Judge denies Jeffrey Clark request to move his case to federal court

A federal judge on Friday denied a request from former Department of Justice attorney Jeffrey Clark to move his Georgia election-interference criminal case to federal court, a shift he had sought on the grounds that he was a federal officer at the time of the actions that led to his indictment.

U.S. District Judge Steve C. Jones ruled that while Clark was undeniably a federal officer during his tenure at the Justice Department, he was not acting in that capacity when he sought to help former president Donald Trump overturn the results of his Georgia defeat in 2020.
