John Kasich

See my post above. It ain't zero. And it's what I said when Kasich entered the race, and I thought he would be the nominee. I had no idea at that point just how stupid I was

FTFY

You are a fool if you ever thought Kasich had a chance. Even sans Trump, Kasich NEVER had a chance

I think Kasich is the best of the three also. Now a few weeks ago this letter was printed in our paper re: Kasich's record. Can you clarify if the writer is being honest about it?

"I read the letter from Debbie Schmalstieg Pratt (“Switched for Kasich,” March 24) that she is switching parties from Democratic to Republican so that she can vote for John Kasich. She is attracted to him because he is a moderate and seems honest and sincere. John Kasich and I grew up on the same street in McKees Rocks, although he is several years younger than I. Our families attended the same church.

Although it is nice to see someone from McKees Rocks pursuing the presidency, Ms. Pratt needs to know that Mr. Kasich only seems moderate compared with the two crackpots he is running against. Here are some of the highlights of his record in Ohio: cut funding to Planned Parenthood and signed legislation that led to half of the women’s health clinics closing; attacked collective bargaining — attacks that Ohio voters rejected in 2011; cut funding to public schools; denies the extent to which human activity causes climate change; committed to repealing the Affordable Care Act, although he accepted expanded Medicaid funding to cover low-income Ohio residents; enabled the secretary of state in Ohio to pursue some of the most severe voter suppression actions in the country; worked for Lehman Brothers, the now-defunct investment bank, which was in the middle of causing the economic meltdown in 2008; cut taxes but balanced the budget on the backs of the poor.

Perhaps Ms. Pratt needs to look more at the record than the optics of someone who is now trying to pass himself off as a moderate. The real John Kasich is the guy who, at his winner’s rally after the Ohio primary, diminished his own father’s political affiliation as a Democrat. He looked at the audience and said, “Yea, he really was a Democrat” and topped it off with the old Republican line that Democrats are socialists."

Those comments are pretty innocuous, imo. I'm sure a guy like Kasich has nothing but love & respect for his father - it sounds like he was just kidding around.

He is a Republican, so the positions on Planned Parenthood and Obamacare don't surprise me. I'm much more left, but even I still don't know how I feel about Obamacare. I'm definitely pro-choice, but Kasich has spoken on that topic as reasonably as I've heard any conservative speak about it. He talks about Roe being established law and focusing more on trying to reduce the need for abortion. I also think it's not clear at all how much humans contribute to global warming. I think humans contribute greatly to hurting our environment, but despite what anyone says, AGW is very unsubstantiated science.

Kasich is definitely more conservative ideologically than I would normally be comfortable with, but his time as governor and in Congress has shown him to be much more practical and much less of an idealogue. He is interested in getting things done, and works with whoever he has to in order to arrive at solutions. He is nothing like the obstructionist Republicans who we have gotten used to in D.C. They care about power & political gain; Kasich genuinely wants to fix things.

This is what passes for "moderate" in the American Taliban party?

Is Kasich another misogynistic male Republican?

Kasich told a young female college student, who said she was worried about sexual harassment and violence, that she should avoid parties with a lot of alcohol.

Yes I do. I have seen this playbook before. You lefties said the same things about McCain and Romney during their primaries. Any of you vote for them? Fuck no
fantastic..moon called me a Republican this morning on the Russia fly by thread...now I'm a leftie..
I do support sanders -but not all for his politics -but for his campaign is not big donors.
It would be a political revolution ( taking back the government from special interests)

I do support single pay - it's the best way to streamline medical coding ( administration costs) as well as provide universal access.
The "free stuff" college not so much -although something has to be done about student loan debt.

McCain was a warmonger. Romney was OK - maybe looking back I should have supported him instead of going 3rd party.
Obama is a severe disappointment this term - his foreign policy is crashing down, and of course there was the destruction of Libya 1st terms.

A friend of mine is a Trump supporter for the same reason I'm a Sanders supporter -get rid of the stifling status quo. Big Money
rI'm willing to look past a lot of "trumpism" in the attempt to see how he would govern.

I'm not sure what i'll do -going 3rd party is very unfulfilling -last time I went for GAry Johnson.
The only people I won't vote for are Hillary and Cruz =ABC =Anybody but Clinton/Cruz
