John Kasich

It's hard to believe how much Republicans are blowing it right now. I think an argument could be made that Kasich is the best candidate the GOP has had since Reagan.

I know that some on the right oppose him because he's the "Republican that Democrats like." But his conservative credentials are solid, and he has a track record of cutting taxes, balancing budgets and creating jobs. Principled, authentic and intelligent guy.

And I'll have to remind some on the right of how distasteful it was that Dems like him when Hillary is racking up the electoral votes against Trump or Cruz in the fall.

You seem to like him. You should vote for him

I would only vote for him if he promises to raise everyone's taxes and give their money to me. I mean after all I deserve it. There is a social contract don't you know?

He picked a tough year to run with such an anti-incumbent sentiment among many Republican primary voters. But Kasich didn't do himself any favors by not touring the country and getting his name out there prior to running. Someone with the name recognition of Trump may be able to get away with it but not Kasich.

Seeing as he's from Ohio I'm a big fan. Polls today showing him the only Republican of the three to beat Hillary in the electoral college. He's a solid conservative dude.

Fuck Kasich

I would vote for a maggot before I voted for him

Ironically, Trump is claiming he will win with Reagan Democrats. Fuck Trumptards, they are so fucking stupid...

I'd vote for a republican chimpanzee right now.

Will an orangutan do?

I'd consider voting for him too. It just goes to show you how far to the extreme right the GOP has gone when Kasich is viewed as a RINO. Hell Reagan would be RINO too and if I remember correctly...lots of Democrats liked Reagan too.

Having said that Kasich's record in Ohio is over rated. He screwed the pooch big time by signing the Anti-Union Bill, Senate Bill #5, into law and then having the voters overwhelmingly over turn it. His economic record is really nothing spectacular. Most of the growth in Ohio has been in the three large metro areas and is due mainly to diversification of the economy and the fracking boom in east Ohio. Kasich has little to do with either. In fact during his term Ohio's economic growth since the Bush recession is 25th in the nation. In other words average. His electoral record in Ohio is also over stated. He barely defeated Gov. Strickland who had the great misfortune to be in office when the Bush recession started. Then in his re-election bid he had the great good fortune to have one of the weakest Gubanatorial candidate to ever run for the office in Ohio. Within weaks of winning the Democratic nomination the duffus imploded his campaign with a stupid sex scandal. In that light Kasich's landslide victory wasn't that impressive.

On the good side Kasich is a governing Republican. He's learned from mistakes like Senate Bill 5 and backed off he also has compromised on legislation demonstrating that he is interested in sound governance, which certainly puts him at odds with the party base. One thing that does worry me about him is his involvement with the investment banks that caused the Bush recession.

In other words he's a flawed candidate. Having said that he's no where nearly as flawed as Trump or Cruz and polls well with general election voters against Clinton but not so well against Sanders but here's the real knock on Kasich. If he can't build a coalition to even really compete in the primaries and caucuses, one has to be skeptical that he could do so at a brokered convention.

Kasich is so-so. He's basically an un-rich Romney, but I'll happily vote for him over Hillary or Bernie.

he's the only candidate that hasn't declared war on the other party. I'd vote for him for that alone

Oh, I'd agree that he's flawed, and his OH record is overplayed. But it's still a decent record, and I thought he did a good job in Congress in the '90's also.

Kasich is a smart guy. He's a conservative, but he's not an idealogue; he has a history of working with the other side and finding effective compromise. To me, he's the best candidate on either side right now, by a mile.

GOP delegates should really heed those polls. Unless something unexpected happens w/ Hillary (and I don't necessarily discount that), she'll beat either Trump or Cruz handily.

There is an argument that he would do a better job than Clinton.

He has more integrity, and I cant say the same about Trump or Cruz.

Polls also showing losing to Bernie. Go figure?
