It's like The Boy Who Cried Wolf. When you keep yelling "WOLF" and there is no wolf, eventually people ignore you.
I'm a registered Independent as well. I was a registered Republican for 40 years before I changed to Independent in 2009 after Bush Jr screwed up the economy.
