It's interesting that you think location matters. It really doesn't - what they have been able to do has likely exceeded their original expectations, and surprised many. A successful protest movement benefits greatly by maintaining newsworthiness, and they have done that. Ultimately, that, sheer #'s, and the ability to sustain interest overall will be what might influence lawmakers.
