Elderly Palestinian dies of heart attack after Israeli soldiers handcuffed and detained him inside an under-construction building in Ramallah
IOF excessive use of force: 14 Palestinians wounded, including 4 children and a journalist, in the West Bank
10 IOF shootings reported against agricultural lands, and 2 against fishing boats in the Gaza sea
132 IOF incursions into the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem: 78 Palestinians arrested, including 6 children and 2 women
Demolitions and notices in occupied East Jerusalem: a house and residential room self-demolished by owners; carwash demolished and an under-construction cemetery razed along with 10 dunums of land
2 construction vehicles confiscated, 5 houses and a sheep barn demolished in Hebron, Nablus, and Bethlehem
Settler-attacks in the West Bank: assault on civilian homes and a vehicle, 2 Palestinians (man and woman) hit with rocks in Hebron and Jerusalem
IOF established 52 temporary military checkpoints in the West Bank and arrested 6 Palestinian on said checkpoints
Summary
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued to commit crimes and multi-layered violations against Palestinian civilians and their properties, including raids into Palestinian cities that are characterized with excessive use of force, assault, abuse, and arrests against civilians. This week witnessed an escalation in Israeli demolitions, and demolition notices against Palestinian properties. Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip is in its 15th year under closure, as Israel exercise the worst known collective punishment in human history, exacerbating the humanitarian hardships across the territory.
IOF shooting and violation of right to life and bodily integrity:
During the reporting period, an elderly Palestinian man died of a heart attack after IOF soldiers handcuffed and detained him; IOF also shot and wounded 14 civilians, including 4 children and a journalist, in excessive use of force in the West Bank. On January 12th 2021, 80-year-old Omar Mohammed Abdul-Majid Asad was found dead, handcuffed, and blindfolded, inside an under-construction building where IOF soldiers detained him after forcing him out of his vehicle.
IOF attacks this week also resulted in the following:
2 Palestinians wounded in Tubas;
8 were wounded in Qalqilya, including 3 children;
University student wounded before IOF detained him
Journalist wounded while covering IOF incursion into Bitunia
Palestinian wounded in Hebron and 1 child in Jenin.
In the Gaza Strip, PCHR documented 10 IOF shootings on agricultural lands and 2 on fishing boats.
