Jehovah's Witnesses ruin a man's life

So this guy couldn't get surgery because his mother is a fucking Mormon.

At what point in your mind does religious faith become contemptuous? And when does it become criminal?

The doctors are having to figure out a way to do surgery without giving him blood BECAUSE HIS MOTHER IS A FUCKING MORMON.

EPIC FAIL MORON

mormons are not jehovah's witness's....

LMAO....

nice self pwn....

You're so fucking stupid. It's like making a spelling mistake. It's not a pwn if the mistake is IMMATERIAL TO THE POINT BEING MADE, which this is. If could have called them jewish and it wouldn't make the point any less valid.

Actually, ib, in this case it is not immaterial as Mormons and Witnesses have different views when it comes to things like blood transfusions (which, through numerous discussions with a good friend and former Witness, is their biggest issue with surgery) and surgery. By misrepresenting the faith involved, you have inadvertantly raised a certain level of confusion.

Of course, now that the thread title iscorrected, the point is moot.

I never corrected the thread title. That's the original thread title. The point has been moot the entire time.

I find it funny how people lump Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses together, even though they have nothing in common, except for being equally hated and viewed as fringe lunatics of Christianity...

Actually, the protestant church that most interests me is the 7th Day Adventists, because they have a pretty neat argument about the Sabbath...

ib1,

There is a difference between Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Mormons have no restrictions on medical procedures. Yes, they're both brainwashed into following a colossal hoax, but lumping the two together simply reveals your ignorance.

Also, had you read the article, you'd see that the man decided for himself that he didn't want the blood transfusion. He wasn't forced into anything. I'm not defending the Jehovah's Witness cult by any means, but aren't people entitled to make their own choices? Or do you think people should be forced to live according to your bidding?

FYI - Mormon's are from Church of JC of Latter Day Saints, and while generally hated equally as much as Jehovah Witnesses, they are not of the same faith...

But that's one reason why we have conservatives on this board, so that liberals can rely on us for data about theology...

Yeah, because being a self-hating noahide dumbass takes brains:rolleyes:

I just want to know why the title is about Jehovah's Witnesses, then the first post is about Mormons...

The two are very different. First Mormons wouldn't deny surgery because you would need a blood transfusion, that's one difference.

Several things should also be noted. First he was misdiagnosed, and by the time he had a diagnosis he was old enough to decide on his own if he wanted surgery.

Since it is his decision, although the sister wants him to get the surgery, this has no real bearing on who "ruined" this guy's life. A 52 year old man can decide if he wants surgery or not, even if Ib1yysguy thinks his decision is the wrong one.

It should also be noted that the man is going to have the surgery, just under his own terms.

In spite of all the Jehovah Witness jokes, they are about the only group of religious people that you can actually have a conversation about religion with.

They come to my house on occasion, and if I have the time, I welcome them in and have a conversation with them.

I don't agree with their beliefs, but they know the bible better than the vast majority of christians.

LOL

IBI must have got woken up to go on a whine about JW's. This story is a few years old

The Discovery Channel did a documentary of this guy, The Man With No Face.

"It's very difficult to find out the truth about why he hasn't been treated in the past," said Rob Farquhar, producer of the Discovery Channel documentary which brought Jose to Britain in search of a cure.

Financial pressures, mis-diagnoses and the limitations of the Portuguese health system all played a role, but Jose's own complicated attitude to his condition has not helped.

Unsuccessful and unhappy visits to Germany and Spain in search of medical care in his youth have left him with a distrust of doctors. This, combined with his loyalty to his mother's faith, and concerns about life without the mask to which he has become accustomed, appear to have instilled Jose with a sullen fatalism about his condition.

His inertia has infuriated his close family, who do not share Jose's religious beliefs. Jose himself, although a Jehovah's Witness, does not attend any church.

Portugal has government run health care, just like Obama wants us to all have.

from the article i don't see how ib1 gets that it was his mother's fault, the articles says "he" chose not to surgery, in addition to the other myriad of problems that you and webbway speak of

I've never heard of anyone having a lengthy discussion with Jehovah's Witnesses. They blacklisted my parents' house several years ago when I demonstrated that their Bible is translated incorrectly. I am not a Bible scholar by any means, but I do have a working knowledge in koine Greek. Jehovah's Witnesses claimed to possess the same knowledge when in reality they do not. They don't really know anything about the Bible - only what they are told.

They haven't visited my place yet, but it's only a matter of time...

I disagree with you wholeheartedly. I have lengthy discussions with them all the time .. and so will anyone else who takes the time to listen, discuss, and challenge.

Not only do they know the bible, they know religious history .. and they are about the only ones who walk door-to-door .. getting doors slammed in their face .. while professing their beliefs.

They aren't looking for money and they freely give away publications that cost them money to produce.

There are hundreds of different translations of the same one book. The translations and different interpretations are all designed to sell a bill of goods that cannot be either verified nor challenged.

At least Mother Goose is consistent.
