I've said that BOTH sides will be blamed for shutdown, and guess what?

The Force is With Me
Government Shutdown Blame? Poll Fingers Republicans And Democrats

Although Democrats and Republicans both have been embarrassed by their leaked comments about which side is "winning" the shutdown debate, a new HuffPost/YouGov poll shows that both sides are losing, at least as far as public opinion on who's responsible.

According to the survey, 25 percent of Americans think the two sides are equally responsible for the government shutdown, while 36 percent place more blame on Republicans in Congress and 33 percent place more blame on President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress.

Compared to the HuffPost/YouGov poll, the CBS and Fox News surveys found fewer people saying that both sides were equally to blame -- possibly because the HuffPost/YouGov poll included "both are equally responsible" as an explicit option, while the other polls required respondents to volunteer that answer. In all three surveys, though, Democrats and Republicans were each blamed, at least in part, by more than 50 percent of Americans.

The other YouGov poll didn't offer an option to point the finger at both sides.

All of the four surveys showed a lopsided partisan divide, with the vast majority of Democrats blaming Republicans and the vast majority of Republicans blaming Democrats.

Still, the latest HuffPost/YouGov poll shows Americans have little patience for either side. Fifty percent said Obama and the Democrats are doing too little to compromise on a new budget, while an almost identical 48 percent said the same of Republicans.

Twenty-nine percent said that Obama and the Democrats are compromising about the right amount, while 8 percent said they're compromising too much. Thirty percent said Republicans are compromising about the right amount, and 10 percent said they're compromising too much.

A Gallup poll released Friday also shows both sides taking hits in public opinion. In that survey, 57 percent of Americans said the shutdown has made them feel more negatively toward the president, 61 percent feel more negatively toward Republican leaders in Congress and 58 percent feel more negatively toward Democratic leaders in Congress.

Regardless of whom they blame, many Americans are expecting both sides to dig in for the long haul, according to the HuffPost/YouGov poll. Only 7 percent said they expect the shutdown to last less than a week, while 31 percent said it will last one or two weeks, 19 percent said three or four weeks, and 10 percent said more than a month. Thirty-three percent said they're not sure.

Both sides ?.....The left wing media will remedy that soon enough.....a few days or weeks of pumping the bullshit into the veins of the idiots we call citizens, that
the Democrats are innocent of any wrongdoing and the victums of those nasty Republicans, the polls will be solidly on the side of the liberals...

It won't take long.....

Yea, but our side isn't as low as your side so.... Naaa...naaaa ... na ... naa .... naa ...[/sarcasm]

Ugh, I hate politics ... but I care too much to ignore it all.

Your posts are always interesting to read because you admit defeat for the republicans but still cry about it. And yes, the US media is biased toward the left. The question you haven't been able to ask yourself is 'why'?

As for the rest of the world's media, it's pretty obvious that they take a more sane position on politics and supporting the right in the US is completely out of the question.

What "left wing media" the Nation Magazine and The New Left Review?

The political theater has gotten pretty blatant when a quarter of the population can see through it. I don't how you help the partisans? It would be like trying to help fans of pro wrestling realize the fights are rigged and Vince McMahon profits no matter what happens.

What "left wing media" the Nation Magazine and The New Left Review?

Fully 81% of news media professionals favor affirmative action in employment and academia.

71% agree that the “government should work to ensure that everyone has a job.”

75% agree that the “government should work to reduce the income gap between rich and poor.”

56% say that the United States has exploited the nations of the Third World.

57% say that America’s disproportionate consumption of the world’s natural resources is “immoral.”

It is equally illuminating to examine the degree to which members of the news media have supported Democrat or liberal/left candidates and causes, both at the ballot box and with their checkbooks:

In 1964, 94% of media professionals voted for Democrat Lyndon Johnson over Republican Barry Goldwater.

In 1968, 86% voted for Democrat Hubert Humphrey over Republican Richard Nixon.

In 1972, 81% voted for Democrat George McGovern over the incumbent Nixon.

In 1976, 81% voted for Democrat Jimmy Carter over Republican Gerald Ford.

In 1980, twice as many cast their ballots for Carter rather than for Republican Ronald Reagan.

In 1984, 58% supported Democrat Walter Mondale, whom Reagan defeated in the biggest landslide in presidential election history.

In 1988, White House correspondents from various major newspapers, television networks, magazines, and news services supported Democrat Michael Dukakis over Republican George H.W. Bush by a ratio of 12-to-1.

In 1992, those same correspondents supported Democrat Bill Clinton over the incumbent Bush by a ratio of 9 to 2.

Among Washington bureau chiefs and congressional correspondents, the disparity was 89% vs. 7%, in Clinton’s favor.

In a 2004 poll of campaign journalists, those based outside of Washington, DC supported Democrat John Kerry over Republican George W. Bush by a ratio of 3-to-1. Those based inside the Beltway favored Kerry by a 12-to-1 ratio.

In a 2008 survey of 144 journalists nationwide, journalists were 8 times likelier to make campaign contributions to Democrats than to Republicans.

A 2008 Investors Business Daily study put the campaign donation ratio at 11.5-to-1, in favor of Democrats. In terms of total dollars given, the ratio was 15-to-1.

If any of this is true and who can say whether it is or no, but even if we accept that it is, all this shows is that the people who know Washington and politics best and deal with day-to-day as a profession, seem to agree that the conservatives and their positions are all fucked up. But even if that is the case, you are making a classic category mistake. Reporters and those who work in the media are not the same as the media, which are in fact huge corporations that have profit as their motive. What you are claiming here is like saying the Steel Corporations are liberal because steel workers belong to unions and largely vote Democratic. Such thinking should be perceived as too stupid to be accepted by anyone with an IQ over 40! That you think it is rational just shows that it must suck to be you!

a pox on all of them, Dysfunctional DC. If this was anywhere else (except our esteemed Fed'l gov't) they'd all be fired.

All this proves is that journalists are intelligent/educated. It proves nothing of the owner/publisher's political leanings. Nice fail. Again.

Actually, the why is irrelevant. But now that you mention it, it would be an interesting discussion.....the fact that they are solidly left wingers is what drives
public opinion in this country......and I also agree that a lot of the foreign media does, for the most part, at least report the facts without the liberal spin and subtle propaganda
thrown in....without the little phrases and buzz words that work so well on pinheads in the US....

Thanks for the 'backhanded' compliment....but
As far as admitting defeat or crying about it...you're way the hell off the mark there .....my 'prediction' about the what the polls will show in the coming
weeks is simple logic from recent history....having most of the US media as your cheerleaders and personal propaganda machine is 90% of the battle, and almost
impossible to overcome.
and voicing that opinion is not 'crying or whining' about it....its simply stating the facts as I see them.

It doesn't matter how each base polls. What matters, is what independents think. They all know that the GOP shut down the govt.

What if the Senate sent back a bill to the House, that met their spending limits, but included an assault weapons ban, and background checks?

Whose fault would the shutdown be then?

Reporters and news media workers ADMIT to being on the left, spinning the news to avoid embarrassing Democrats and voting for them.....
There is not debate. There is no doubt. They openly admit it, and only a pinhead with their IQ hovering about 40 can't face this reality.....
and best of all, this left leaning spin sells to about 50% of the public...100% of academia and their captive college kids threatened with a failing grade should they
question anything.

As for the why they are left wing ?....thats another debate, more complicated than you giving them credit for actually knowing what is best for the rest us....
and its certainly not only those in Washington....when some aren't even old enough or wise enough or have life experiences enough to be telling the rest
of us what is best for us....they are the parrots produced by that academia I mentioned above..

You are stupid. Romney won independents and he isn't President

Demalquedacrats are shitting their pants because they thought the GOP would have caved by now.

To be honest, I thought they would have too. If they hold tough, they have B Hussein Yobabymama by his Kenyan balls

You bet.....
voting for McGovern, Carter and LBJ certainly shows their intelligence....or lack of....and absolutely says something their educations from the propaganda mills we call college.

their socialist views certainly shows their politics.....

and entire list says all you need to know about their lack of patriotism.....
