Ivanka Trump’s Presence at Meeting With Japan’s Leader Raises Questions

The potential for conflicts of interest between President-elect Donald J. Trump and his family’s business ventures emerged again Thursday evening, when a photograph was distributed that showed his daughter Ivanka at a meeting between Mr. Trump and the Prime Minister of Japan.

News media were not allowed to attend the session, Mr. Trump’s first with a foreign head of state, and no summary was provided about what was discussed. A separate photograph was distributed — press photographers were not allowed to cover the event — showing that Jared Kushner, Ms. Trump’s husband, was present for at least part of the gathering.

Ms. Trump will be among the members of the president-elect’s family who will be placed in charge of Mr. Trump’s business enterprises, which include an international chain of hotels with operations in Latin America, Europe and North America. She serves as vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization, and the company’s website says one of her “primary focuses has been to bring the Trump Hotel brand to global markets.”

Danielle Brian of the Project on Government Oversight said regardless of what was discussed at the meeting, it was inappropriate for Ms. Trump to be present at a private meeting among such a small group of people given that she is an executive at a corporation involved in international business development.

Thanks but I read about the Trump family meeting the Prime Minister of Japan in my local newspaper as I'm sure most of us did.....

That's gonna be tough because neither journalists nor news photographers were permitted to attend, and no summary was released. I can't imagine why this little get-together had to be so hush-hush.
 
The day after Ivanka Trump appeared on a 60 Minutes episode about her father’s election, a vice president of her jewelry company sent journalists an email about the bracelet Ivanka had worn on the show. “Please find attached a style alert of Ivanka wearing her favorite bangle from the Metropolis Collection on 60 Minutes,” she wrote. “Please share this with your clients.”

The press release advertised a piece of jewelry sure to be popular with the “poor” and “unemployed” and “angry because of the economy” voters who supposedly lifted Trump to victory. For just $10,800, someone who wants to dress like the heir to a sexual predator’s fortune can have a gorgeous gold bangle adorned with diamonds and a crude rip-off of the Tory Burch logo. The plain gold version without pavé diamonds (sad!) is available for just $8,800.

Ivanka’s attempt to make bank off her father’s presidential transition didn’t sit well with some reporters, who noted that it fit right in with the Trump family’s complete disregard for ethical standards around conflicts of interest—namely, the guideline that says political leaders shouldn’t use their stations to make themselves and their families rich.
 
I don't buy into any of this conflict stuff. POTUS should be able to talk to anyone he/she wants and garner advice from anyone.
FDR used to talk to industry.
Look at the Clinton Foundation where it took money to gain access -even that wasn't called a quid pro quo

do you think that the connection between ivanka trump and donald trump would be less known to the japanese if she werent there? And the fact that she is the person he listens to the most?

Japanese have tv too you know. They can speaking in engrish as well. They know what we know.
