nov 24 2017 Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter and top White House adviser, condemned recent media coverage of former President Barack Obama's eldest daughter, Malia Obama, a 19-year-old freshman at Harvard.

"Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school aged peers," Trump tweeted on Friday. "She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits."

Shortly after, another former first daughter, Chelsea Clinton, tweeted a similar sentiment.

"Malia Obama's private life, as a young woman, a college student, a private citizen, should not be your clickbait," Clinton wrote. "Be better."

Over the past week, videos of Malia Obama smoking and kissing another Harvard student at a football game went viral.

The only Palin kid I remember being discussed in an unflattering way was the unwed and adult Bristol. The same Bristol who procured a lucrative contract warning other young women to remain celibate and not get knocked up without a husband like she did -- twice. The thing is, any time you hold yourself out as some beacon of religious morality like $arah Palin did, you leave yourself open for criticism when you and/or your family doesn't measure up like you're telling others to do.

There was also some nattering long after the 2008 election had passed about her older kid, Track. He'd gotten himself in some legal trouble back in Wasilla and was given a choice between jail and the military. He chose the military and to all accounts served his time with honor. He got married not too long after discharge, and his first kid was born a couple months later. The wife and Track split a year or so later. Track was, of course, an adult during these times.

I follow Alaskan news rather closely, being an honorary Alaskan myself. Have yet to see much of anything about the youngest two Palin spawn, Willow and Trigg... positive or negative. That could just be only because the world has moved on and the brief Palin fame is thankfully a dead thing.

If people want to complain why we have such poor candidates but rip on people's kids, well look in the mirror.

Who is attacking that child? The only things I've seen on forums is speculation that he might have autism, which of course is as ridiculous as saying that Trump has some sort of mental illiness. Oh wait. Trump exhibits that from time to time. The little boy... not. I have never seen anything in the media attacking the little boy. If you have, point me at 'em.

I've never thought it to be proper to criticize any politician's child (young or old) unless they put themselves in the political or public spotlight.
