It's Veteran's day

Stop picking on pO' Legion.. He is a Vet of the sock wars of 2008-09 & has the mental scars to prove it...

LOL. Oh, excuse me, sir. I have this petition here. Would you sign it? It's for Covfefe to petition the JPP IT crew to add a LOL button. Thanks.

Leftwing fake virtue signally :palm:

Pull the curtain back, and what you really see is a bunch of hate America, flag burning kneelers.

How sad that some of our vets died so that you have the right to muck up a thread started to honor them, with your stupid and hateful comments.

For our vets here still living, and for our vets gone on ahead: Thank you.

More Leftwing virtue signaling :palm:

Now go back to pissing and shitting on the flag like a good little racist bigoted socialist authoritarian pig.

I am most proud of our military and it's members when it does crap like this..... aka, Humanitarian relief missions and peacekeeping.

Operation Unified Assistance

Unified Assistance is the name of the United States military's response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. On 28 December the first elements of the Combined Support Force (CSF-536) were deployed to Utapao, Thailand following that country's approval of the use of that base. More than 12,600 Department of Defense personnel were involved in the relief effort.

Indonesian public opinion of the United States markedly improved in the year after the tsunami, jumping from 15% in 2003 to 38% in 2005, going against the general trend of less favorable attitudes towards America in that time period. Many Indonesians surveyed indicated that American relief efforts generally improved their view of the United States.

That's not crap... that's golden. And I agree with you.... the best ambassadors of who we are as Americans can be our military folk who are stationed around the world. I want to see our military seen by the locals as people who are there when you need us to help you whether it's disaster relief, rescuing a kitten that fell down an old well, rebuilding a grandmother's home that blew down, handing out food during a famine. I wish that we had a President like JFK who has the vision to see our widely-scattered military as ambassadors and friends when needed, rather than terrifying dealers of death.

Perhaps this is just propaganda, but I don't want to believe that it is. Call me Pollyanna. But I've seen thousands of photos and hundreds of videos showing our service people doing the above, while stationed in an area that had something dire happen. Thanks to them for that.

Righty-o.

Classic use of "soft power", something wingnuts inevitably under-value.

I would imagine, and would like to think, that the vast majority of our active military members themselves would much rather be aiding tsunami victims and earth quake victims, than blowing up shit in Iraq, and invading countries that aren't a threat to us.

I'm a mother of two vets, niece of two WW2 vets, aunt of a GW2 vet, sister of two VM-era vets. You are absolutely right. Their best "war stories" were not of combat. They were of helping out with the local folks where they were stationed. And bitching bitterly about the locale as well. lol

Thank you to all US veterans (and allies veterans) for your service to freedom and a rules based world order.

Not surprised a liberal would be the first to pay respects, are we.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, Ric Shinseki, for your extraordinary service to our country and your tireless commitment to our veterans; to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta; to Chairman Dempsey and Mrs. Dempsey; to our wonderful veterans service organizations for the extraordinary work that you do for our nation’s heroes; to all who tend to and watch over this sacred cemetery; and above all, to every active duty member, Guardsman, Reservist, and veteran of the United States Armed Forces.

There are many honors and responsibilities that come with this job. But none are more humbling than serving as your Commander-in-Chief. And I’m proud to be with so many of you here today.

Here, where our heroes come to rest, we come to show our gratitude. A few moments ago, I laid a wreath to pay tribute to all who have given their lives to our country. For even though this is a day we rightly honor America’s veterans, we gather today in solemn respect -– mindful that we are guests here; mindful that we share this hallowed space with a family’s moment of quiet grief; mindful that many veterans not far from here are tracing their fingers over black granite for friends who never came home –- and expect us to do all we can to bring every missing American service member home to their families.

To all our nation’s veterans: Whether you fought in Salerno or Samarra, Khe Sanh or the Korengal, you are part of an unbroken chain of men and women who have served this country with honor and distinction. On behalf of a proud and grateful nation, we thank you.

When I spoke here on this day two years ago, I said there would be a day before long when this generation of servicemen and women would begin to step out of uniform. And I made them a promise. I said that when your tour ends, when you see our flag, when you touch our soil -– you will be home in an America that is forever here for you, just as you’ve been there for us. (Applause.)

It only seems appropriate that I quote and link to the Greatest President ever.

Remember the 17 sailors who died for no good reason when Navy ships crashed into cargo ships...............

And please get the crack pipes off the bridges of these ships.

And stop Navy Seals from strangling green berets too

Are you proud of yourself?

I am

No, they really wouldn't. They want to blow shit up, get drunk, and fuck the local women (consenually[usually]).

I hope everyone had a great Veteran's day as officially observed by the United States Government. I'm sure that despite all the negativity from the right and lateness to the party, the republicans here also respect our brave fighting men and women as much as we do, and enjoyed their day off from work granted due to the fact that
it was Veterans day today as observed by our Government. Those of you who did not notice that it was Veterans day because your employer did not give you a day off with pay can join with us all observing veterans day again on Saturday even though we already did. My flag will remain up.

Well, that's disappointing to hear. I really wanted to believe most of our active military were better humans than that.
Hopefully, you are being a troll. I would like to think you don't really believe that.

He served in the Corps. There are more civilized branches of service to be found. :cof1:

They're a bunch of 18-20 kids who are usually from poorer backgrounds, most of whom wanna fuck shit up because that's what they signed up to do. It's not exactly a new sentiment for a young man without much direction.
