It's the turnout, stupid

LOL Like the GOP is off the hook. Let's be clear. The Democrats are big time guilty of ignoring their biggest constituency. Working class people. It was a major fuck up.

Let's also be clear, the GOP has not done shit for working class people and, from what I'm seeing so far intends to keep right on exploiting them like they have for the last 30 years. I'm reasonably sure that the GOP establishment thinks they have Trump in their pocket now and he'll do what he has to do to protect the privileges and prerogatives of the very wealthiest. If that turns out to be the case the GOP will be in serious trouble. I don't see Trump doing anything for them other than empty rhetoric and supply side policies that will directly hurt working class people.
Well written and thought out.
However...I will challenge you to contemplate that it is Trump that has the GOP in his pocket as they all march to him on bended knee.........
I do not see Trump as more of the same old GOP horseshit. I voted against McCain because it was more of the same old shit.......I have had too many shit sandwiches in my lifetime.

An excellent and lucid summary; sometimes you actually surprise me. This is spot on. But, I would add this to it; based on Obama's denial and current efforts by Democrats, they have not gotten the message and appear determined to head down the path they have been on the last two decades and will continue to lose elections and be marginalized at the State and Congressional level.

Democrats cannot comprehend that they truly are in the minority and the media does them few favors by pretending that they are in the majority.
That's a dangerous road for the GOP to go down. Obviously they don't have a majority as the voting numbers are showing. Neither party does really. Roughly a quarter of the nation is reliably Democrat and roughly a quarter reliably GOP and around 50% are asking "What have you done for me lately?". The one who best answers that question for the most people will be the one to grow beyond their base.

You are not alone in your thinking; which is why I predicted a Trump win. ;)

There's some truth to this; however, if not for the massive 55 electoral votes Democrats con comfortably take for granted every Presidential election, they would never win anything. Do the math.

This is why I support a State concept of proportional electoral votes; at least then the vast number of conservatives living in this BLUE state would not feel totally shut out.

ehh.. the gop banks texas as well and others so it works out both ways.

How many electoral votes does Texas carry? I will answer that; 38. NOTHING can match the massive amount California carries; therefore, as long as Dems can reliably count on a winner take all system, they can be smug. Without California they would NEVER win a Presidential election.......that is basic mathematics.

You're an idiot. What good does it do us to have the polls based in our direction? If the polls has been unbiased, Hillary Clinton would've known she was weak in Wisconsin and campaigned there. The inaccurate polls were something that favored trump, by feeding Clinton by information.
Who was the blithering idiot that claimed US pollsters were far more accurate than the British ones? Oh yes I remember now, it was you!!

You're retarded. It's the cities the system is biased against. It's the cities that the republicans ignore because the system let's them get away with it. There is no demographic in the country more ignored than the blue states by our federal convergent. They just sit around and pander to the hicks all day.
You make me laugh, you're a hick from the sticks!! A few months inside the Beltway and you start to think like all the other arrogant pricks.

Obama won both elections, even if you subtract 55 EV. In a closer contest, such as this year, it handed Crooked Hillary the popular vote.

I don't know that they would NEVER win but with CA being a virtual lock democrats basically start every election with a 55 point head start. That's significant when the first to 270 wins.

And they STILL moan about the electoral system lol.

Maybe if they didn't suck so bad in some much of the rest the country they wouldn't gripe about it. But that's the wisdom and beauty of it: no part of the population can dominate another.

If you subtract the 55 electoral votes Democrats take for granted every election and gave it to the Republican candidate, Democrats would NEVER win any elections. It's real simple math. Try it some time.

I would venture to say that if California apportioned it's electoral votes based on the percentage of votes cast for each candidate, the same result would occur.

It is very hard to overcome the 55 electoral votes California represents. When you look at an voting map of the United States, it is crimson red except for a few very high dense Liberal controlled urban sewers that are full of low information voting twits who have been indoctrinated to think that they are entitled to other peoples money.

It is always refreshing to see some intelligence on the forum and people who actually GET it. ;)

The California system has locked out the voices of the many conservatives who still live there; this is why I always supported allocating their electoral votes rather than a winner take all. But you are right, by handing Democrats all of California's electoral votes before any voting has occurred, idiots on the Democratic side foolishly think that they are winning and in the majority.

Pretty sure it doesn't work that way. If you remove California, then its 55 EV go to no one.

I am sorry; I wasn't aware I was dealing with literal morons. If the Democrats don't get them, the natural presumption is that they go to the other side; not disappear. Moron.
