You know, come to think of it, TRUMP has been particular virulent the past couple of weeks, acting like silver ball in ping pong machine. Is this temperament of guy whose counsel is sent in to take heat for him and HAS BEEN SUCCESFUL?

We all knew TRUMP wouldn't testify--COULDN'T testify! Every lawyer among his own AND in pundit world knew he would PERJURE himself and trip over his own tongue and then LIE some more, LIKELY putting himself in MORE legal jeopardy.

So you are correct, this was the ONLY course of action--let someone go and try to finesse Mueller to get TRUMP out of having to appear or be subpoeaned. BECAUSE TRUMP would lie small and BIG. HOWEVER, McGahn can't make all the Russian contacts, Russian monies, international bank transactions, staggering indebted Republican campaign chairmen doing side deals to bail themselves out by getting changes to the Republican NATIONAL PARTY PLATFORM, drunken pimply faced campaign braggarts telling English diplomats in bars that his presidential candidate was getting help from Russia to win, or kids knowingly setting up meetings with Russians to get political dirt on their dadddy's opponent.

Do you REALLY think McGahn could be that GOOD? And don't blow smoke up our keyboards. None of us on this board know what Trump told McGahn to say or NOT SAY. No one knows what McGahn will or won't say!! White House Counsel straddles 2 clients--the president and the office. Depending on HOW he wants to or can step over the line, HE KNOWS TRUMP LIES, about everything, not the least of which why Trump FIRES PEOPLE. So how far will this guy go for his "client"?

There are technical and procedural reasons that had to have been the case. There are also practical reasons like WH counsel isn't going to slip out for 30 hours of testimony disguised as "Dentist Appointment" that people wouldn't take notice of.

Now if you want to hear some more insightful prognostication, the worst case scenario for Trump appears to be that this will end up being an Iran-Contra situation in which a hand-off big picture president is wrapped up in scandal because his yes men went off the reservation. It is worst case because it will publicly humiliate him and bruise his big fat ego for the world to see he has never been in charge of his own Administration. His credibility will be destroyed because it will be crystal clear he is a pointless official in his own White House even in his own life. Everything has always been tittling in this direction, including She Dawg's firing.

And it’s true Trump could have done a better job in vetting some of his people—especially Manafort. Flynn, was flat out screwed by Mullet. Papadopoulos may been drunk and talking to Russian spies [wittingly or unwittingly]—or he may have been a victim of a set up.

But Trump’s ‘Iran-Contra’ won’t bring him down. If Trump’s supporters were going to leave him they would have left him by now. He’s delivering too much. The economy is rocking, people who had given up on the job market under Obama are back in it.

And as long as Trump keeps delivering he can literally cry like a baby on Twitter over whatever wrist-slap Mullet gives him. His supporters won’t care.

They just don’t care—as long as Trump keeps delivering.

That's what makes it Iran-Contra in that it didn't bring down Reagan either as opposed to a Watergate situation it would seem. I am sure his supporters care as in their druthers would be that thus weren't going on and he was more chewing up turf in DC, but I doubt it would be fatal to a second term. The same dynamic of 2016 is showing up in the polls for the GOP right now. They nationally are polling fairly low, but with a lot of undecideds keeping the DNC stuck well below where they would be if this were going to be the guaranteed blue wave their cult assumes it will be. Who knows, they might actually accidentally win control of something, but I wouldn't bet on it.
