"First off it is a stupid idea" Wa #2
The purpose of the NFL is:
- not to bring entertainment to fans, and is
- not to bring gainful employment to a few husky guys.
The purpose of the NFL is to make $money for the team owners, sponsors, stadia managers, & broadcasters.
"and not practical due to the physicality of the game" Wa
One or two extra games per year, for two teams out of the entire league is impractical?
Really?
How many games do superbowl playing teams play per season?
So by YOUR math, what % additional would an extra half hour to an hour of work per season add * ?
"Secondly, the NFL is dying this won’t save it" Wa
"Dying"?
By what criterion?
- year over year stadium ticket sales?
- broadcast Neilsen ratings?
- superbowl ad $cost per 30 seconds (usually in the $millions)?
- quantified fan base?
FYI according to what I've read, it's not the NFL, but NASCAR that's dying.
* Without OT, an NFL game is an hour long.
Though it never works out precisely even, that works out to about half an hour for the offense, and half an hour for the defense.
