they don't understand the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, nor the Supreme Court rulings on the Second Amendment. They generalize the whole concept of freedom, taking an complex abstraction and reducing it to a cliche that would fit a bumper sticker

They all think regulating guns means the AFT is coming to their door to confiscate their toys, they deflect with the same debunked statistical "arguments" advanced by the NRA, repeat the lame talking points they've heard from the demogogues, anticipate Attila and the Huns are planning to break in to their house, and see themselves as Chuck Norris rather than the more applicable Barny Fife

It's pointless, one of the major reasons we have 30,000+ Americans die from guns every year, and what now seems as kids getting shot in schools every other month, it has become as American as apple pie

That's a great attitude to guarantee nothing gets down. Generally when you start off insulting people it doesn't lend itself to the best environment for good talks.

That wasn't an insult, truth, have you ever seen an arguement supporting guns that falls outside of the parameters I noted above?

And gun huggers don't want to address guns, conservatives are more interested in spreading guns, look at the gun carry reciprocal legislation they just snuck thru the House, they have no interest in any measure of any kind that could help alleviate gun violence or school shootings if it means taking a serious look at regulating weapons, weapons of any kind

As I said, pointless

Just more right-wing stupidity

Why don't you address the "liberal culture" that's led up to this. Parents afraid to discipline their children for fear of losing them. Boys in girls bathrooms. Burning and disrespecting our flag. Rap music glorifying rape, gangs and violence of all types. the list goes on...

How in the hell does "boys in girls bathrooms" cause someone to purchase an AK15 to massacre seventeen kids in a school?

You must validated my point about exchanging with gun huggers on gun reform is a waste of time

It's pointless to exchange with a gun hater. Your entire argument centers around you claiming what you support must be done and those that disagree with you should shut the hell up.

when the constitution and bill of rights was ratified, it was made very clear what the new government could and could not do. there was nothing complex about it and the only reason it appears that way now is the fault of lawyers, liberals, and conservatives who all have their own agendas of destroying freedom. what makes things more ridiculous is the projection that most people provide in calling others 'barney fife', when they damn well know it is they, themselves, who would prostrate themselves before evil because they are cowards.

let us men be men and protect our society, or fall to ruin and slavery because you think that only the failures of government are the capable ones.

Yes, you ignore those debates in which people are willing to accept reasonable regulations if they will do something constructive. We have yet to hear any proposals that would have prevented any of these shootings. Most guns have been purchased legally with background checks. The guy in TX who killed the people in the church should not have been able to buy a guy but the Navy failed to report the required information.

I disagree. Those who wrote and voted on the Constitution and later the amendments did not even agree among themselves how all the provisions would be interpreted.

Default It is pointless to exchange with a gun hugger on gun reform,
Oh?
Why not scale a tax on ammunition, and ammunition supplies * to the number of innocent countrymen slain by gunfire the previous year?

* some gunners load their own, buy shells, bullets, primers, and powder separately. Tax that too.

Ugh, not sure who's more ridiculous on guns at this point Democrats or Republicans. It's certainly not guns going around killing people. But it's not rap music or transgenders either. :palm:

It's the mental health, stupid.

No one's been more insulting than the gunners to the anti-gunners who responded to this tragedy. Right off the bat we got hit with the same old crap about "out of my cold dead hands."

i would even disagree with most of the mental health issue. this is about a lack of values and devaluing life over money.

how is my refusal to surrender any of my weapons with 'cold dead hands' in any way, shape, or form an insult to you??

I haven’t cited a single NRA talking point while discussing the issue of guns (at least not one that I’m aware of) recently. I am simply trying to highlight that the only fool proof (or full proof if one prefers) way to eliminate stuff like this is to implement European type of gun laws which almost eliminates private gun ownership and makes it so that only the wealthier of society can own them.

It's a two way street and it's for all topics not just guns.

Absolutely. These shootings are terrible. If people think that gun owners don’t think that way they’re nuts. But gun owners also know that with every one of these events comes the cry to ban guns so they (we) double down on our stance and defense of this cherished right.

It's a two way street and it's for all topics not just guns.

I've read the gun threads and the biggest number of comments from gunners are like "oh snap, the liberals will try and take my guns away. Outa my cold, dead hands."

Where is the sympathy for the victims and their families? Where is the acknowledgement that everybody isn't as enamored of guns as they are?

how is my refusal to surrender my rights a sign of non sympathy?????
