Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich, a proponent of ethnic cleansing and segregation, is scheduled to address the Development Corporation for Israel, also known as Israel Bonds, in Washington when it meets from 12-14 March.

Worldwide sales of Israel bonds have surpassed $48 billion since 1951 on behalf of Israel and an economy built on top of dispossessed Palestinians. The organization openly notes its efforts to advance an exclusivist state, asserting that “the vital funds Israel receives from the purchase of Israel bonds for donations enables the strengthening of a strong, proud Jewish nation.”

The Adalah Justice Project has organized a petition calling on the US State Department to block Smotrich’s travel to the US.

No, a defunding of Israel would be a defunding of Israel's criminal regime, not a defunding of Jews per se. Many more Jews live outside of Israel than in it- and many of them would like to see Israel defunded too.

Also, 25% of Israelis are not Jewish and, as you can see from the recent news reports, many of Israel's Jews themselves would also like to see their fascist regime brought down- and defunding would do just that.

I always thought the "defund" thing was a silly over-simplified trope that lends to extremist on any side of an issue bending it to their point of view.

Old Bibi's defensive attempt to move to fascism has set off a tinder box. Does that mean an eventual radical change in the set up of Israeli gov't? We'll see.

Flat out defunding Israel would END the state of Israel. Period. I seriously doubt they could survive a biannual deficit of what $2 billion US? An there is no way our military/intelligence/industrial complex is going to give up their anchor ally in the strategic "Middle East" (use to be known as Western Africa, but I digress). We would have to radically change how our domestic military/intelligence budget is determined before we put a spot light on Israel.

It's a hot mess, if you ask me...but at least this pimple is starting to come to a head.
