Israeli ban cripples furniture industry in Gaza

Israel's prohibition on certain kinds of wooden planks has axed local output and caused many to lose their jobs.


In March 2015, however, Israel forbade the import of wood planks as "items of dual use", a term it uses for materials prohibited from entering Gaza over what it describes as security concerns. Currently, the list of such items includes more than 110 products.

I don't deny that the Palestinian resistance has tunneled out of its prison on several occasions in the past- but the number of such tunnels is far fewer than that of those used for bringing in food and medicine from Egypt.

There is also doubt that the territory in which such tunnels emerged was actually Israeli. Ethnically cleansing an area does not signify ownership.
