Israel ‘won’t move forward’ with ceasefire until Hamas names first hostages to be freed

Hours before a ceasefire deal is slated to go into effect, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel has still not received a list of the names of the hostages Hamas is slated to release, which could hold up the agreement.

“We will not move forward with the outline until we receive a list of the hostages to be freed, as agreed,” Netanyahu says in a statement released by his office. “Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. The sole responsibility lies with Hamas.”

The agreement states that Hamas is required to provide the names of the hostages at least 24 hours ahead of their release — which was supposed to be 4 p.m. local time.

Maybe the holdup is Hamas is having trouble finding someone who is literate enough to write the list down for them...

I'm very concrned about Israel prematurely ending the war before achieving the goals that would secure their security.
The very existence of Palestinians in their region has been a threat to Israelis since the advent of Israel in the 1940s.

The Palestinian population has been involved in terrorism against Israel for Israel's entire existence,
and if a war of genocide against Palestinians is what's required for peace,
Israel has made real progress in that direction
and would probably be making a mistake to stop now.

That's admittedly a layman's opinion on the subject,
but it's what makes sense to me.

From what I see, both factions have shown both an inability and an unwillingness to co-exist.
Isn't a conclusive ending preferable to eternal fighting?

It's not that I don't understand the Palestinian position.
Much like the indiginous people of America, the Arabs in the region have seen their land taken from them by foreigners.
But also much like the indiginous people of America, they can't win.
They must either accept the Jews or try to beat them in a war of genocide which they obviously can't do.

It must be difficult to name the captives to be released when Bicden's bombs continuie to kill them.
