Plainly stated, stories like this simply ignore men's contributions to the family and that they have juggled this same thing ever since women entered the work force (basically during WWII). I find the ballancing of fathrehood and job difficult, and I am my own boss.

Women were expected to do all of the household work and when they entered the work force, they were often expected to retain all of the household duties and work. THat is changing, but I know several families where that is the case.

I don't know why. It's a fact of our evolution and due to past gender roles. We don't have to reinforce it, though, or just accept it either.

The fact that women do more housework creates a feedback loop for the gender roles. It keeps their incomes down and makes them more likely to quit, going back to a traditional gender role.

These stories should be attacks on men for being slobs. I am guilty. My wife does not work full time, but even she did I doubt I would be doing half without a few kicks in the ass.

i spent a year on a remote south pacific island, toured many other remote islands and have had friends who have served in some remote areas all over the world...

reality is in fact that women do the bulk of the housework....go to any society that hasn't been westernized and you will find this absolute, not just 'most' or 'part' of the time as it is in western society. it was that way here just 50 years ago and it has nothing to do with better homes and garden. you sound like she kicked your ass out on the street...am i right?

Usually its the women who care about having vacuum cleaner lines in the carpet 24/7 anyway. If they are concerned so much, let them do it. They're the most anal. they can pretty up the place. Ill do my laundry when it needs doing and ill keep a kitchen sanitary, other than that, get out of my face with your agenda, bisnatch. (BEE-snotch)
