Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said victory for his country is “being able to save as many lives as possible.”


Zelenskyy emphasized the safety of Ukrainians is most important.

“Victory is being able to save as many lives as possible. Yes, to save as many lives as possible, because without this nothing would make sense. Our land is important, yes, but ultimately it’s just territory,” Zelenskyy said.

“Our victory may be temporary, maybe without resolving all issues, but we have chosen the direction we will move in,” he added.

“From the start, when you choose an option about what people should do or not do, people don’t understand what a full-fledged war is. My job is to give a signal so that people know how to act,” Zelenskyy said.

“And when you show how Ukraine is supposed to behave, you also have to behave accordingly."

Russian negotiators aere due to arrive in Istanbul late on Monday, followed by a Ukrainian delegation during the night, for cease-fire talks scheduled for Tuesday morning.

The office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he urged Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call Sunday to accept a cease-fire with Ukraine.

Authorities in Kyiv said said the chances of success in cease-fire talks had grown in recent weeks, “from 10% two weeks ago to 50%.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at the weekend that, to his knowledge, there was a diplomatic back channel between Mr. Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I don’t want to go into the details of this process. It seems that they have been negotiating serious issues, serious items,” Mr. Cavusoglu told a conference in Doha, Qatar.

Both Russian and Ukrainian sides had explored several options regarding the venue and format for the next round of talks, people close to the negotiations said, but agreed at the weekend that neutral Turkey would be the optimal location.

Mr. Zelensky said in an interview with independent Russian journalists at the weekend that he was prepared to meet Russia’s core demands on Ukraine. Kyiv has said it is willing to issue a formal statement eschewing joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

That opportunity existed before and Zelensky refused the offers. Rightys think everyone is just into money. That is why they accept what Trump did and does.
With Putin, there is no place safe. He has assassinated people in faraway places.

Other than that not being true, I cannot see your problem. Zelensky's problem was the power of the wealthy and corrupt. They kept him out of NATO and made other nations more unlikely to supply aid.

Is that what you think? Wow. You do not know what the Dems think. You hardly make sense when you post. This is a war between Putin and Ukraine. Biden is being very careful in aiding Ukraine. He is trying to keep the US and NATO out of it. To you, that is pushing for a war.
