I recall violence being marginally acceptable when we got medals and trophies for it.
Then we got money, although, truth be told, nothing to write home about.
Then, very shortly later, we tried it with guns,
and from my perspective,
that was somewhat harder to justify.

MAGA message board posters spent decades stroking their gun barrels and muttering about second amendment solutions.
But when Trump screamed at them that dark forces had stolen the election and the fate of the republic was in the balance, not a single MAGA on this board answered the call to show up for duty on J6.

Do you agree it's a matter of choice? Or should the decision be forced upon innocent, law abiding Americans? IMO, it's better to have one and not need one than to need one and not have one. Nothing fancy, but clearly a $500+ investment with some training costs involved for those who never practiced. TBH, firearms safety with a BB gun is the same as a .50 machine gun. Start small, if you like. Additionally, I think it's smarter to deal with reality, such as having optional firearms classes for public schools, than to live in denial and live in fear of others.
Agreed, but depending upon government for all your needs isn't an American ideal. It's a dependent mentality. A peasant depending upon their monarch to tell them what to do. The same monarch who benefits from keeping them ignorant and poor. I trust my government, both state and federal to look out for the best interests of the state and nation. If they don't, I let them know by voting and encouraging others to do the same. However, if all else fails, I still want to protect my family from scumbags and other two-legged snakes. A shotgun can work too. Cheaper, excellent home defense. With slugs, an American can shoot a terrorist in the street from their rooftop.
