what is up with Jarod and his retarded strawman threads?
If the Christians are right, then no matter how I "feel" about things it would still be wrong to have sex out of wedlock.
As it stands, I don't know if they are right. However sex out of wedlock, or at least a strong commitment of some sort, risks children with only half of the teaching tools they need for the best chance at success. Or it risks something worse, IMO, taking a life for your own convenience or risking the life of another to bring unplanned life into being....
It is usually a bad choice and can lead to unintentional harm to others. It is best avoided regardless of strong beliefs, or disbelief, in Western gods.
I never said "usually" that is a straw man, and no all of what I cited is the result of sex. Secondary considerations notwithstanding, if you do not add the sex the negatives I cited will not result.Sex does not usually lead to pregnancy, especially if you use protection. Further, the negatives you cite are all the result of other actions/choices, not necessarily sex.

People work hard to give themselves reasons that it is okay. It is always easy to justify what you want to do (and all of us want sex). It is far more difficult to consider all of the ramifications that could result because of making a poor choice.
The only perfect method to avoid conception is not having sex. Condoms, the pill, pulling out, etc all fail. The conception of children can be avoided. I had a lot of sex, some protected and some using the pull out method.... I never once got a woman pregnant until the week my wife and I decided we wanted to get pregnant.
Done right, sex without pregnancy is less likely than driving on the interstate without a having a wreck.
Done "correctly" the risk is as effecting to a life as DUI. Again, you work to justify rather than actually considering the ramifications of your action. It is always easy for humans to do this. They form an opinion then choose "facts" that justify what they have already concluded.Done right, the ramifications are less serious than driving on the freeway!

What you risk is far more harm than a moment's pleasure is worth.
