What is "Obama care"?

There is no such thing.

If it were up to you, and thankfully it isn't, the poor would have no health care, apparently.

The article states:

"It was truly a remarkable experience to witness how many people in the United States, ranging from infants to the elderly, have little or no access to healthcare. It was truly the front lines of the healthcare problem in our country.

Editor’s note: On Wednesday, July 29, President Barack Obama discussed his healthcare plans at a town hall meeting in Bristol, Virginia, 62 miles from the Wise County Fairgrounds. He acknowledged the outstanding work of everybody associated with the event."

What fraud is contained here?

do you forget the article I linked from the organization that ran the clinic?....it stated that they held the clinic to provide dental and vision care and the only medical care provided was mammograms and pap smears.....

this clinic has nothing at all to do with the proposed health plan currently in Congress....

Who said that it did?

I don't know how people like you can possibly think that the voters will embrace their cruel vision for America.

This country was founded on a promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The conservative vision of health care policy threatens all three.

It threatens life by making health care inaccessible to many people, including children.

It threatens liberty and the pursuit of happiness by trapping some people in low-paying jobs and discouraging them from starting businesses or pursuing the vocation that would make them happy and productive.

There are countless Americans out there who can't get insurance due to exclusions, or can't afford outrageous premiums, or who live in constant fear of losing the insurance they have at the whim of the insurer.

I doubt these people really want to be lectured to by compassionless, rich Republican ideologues about the "choices" they have under the current market system.

Thanks to 8 years of Bush tax cuts and runaway spending on illegal wars, it's tough out there, and we already have the least forgiving health care system in all of the industrialized world.

For most people in this country, a layoff or accident or illness means poverty, suffering and bankruptcy.

But conservatives nevertheless want to stall the reforms currently being considered to make the system a little more forgiving.

If that's the vision of America you want to sell, good luck, because damned few will buy it.

You can scare people into thinking that a war is necessary when it isn't. You can tell them that tax cuts for the rich lead to prosperity. You can even convince some that Bush was a great president.

But when it comes to things that are central to their daily lives, like health care, it is much harder to fool people.

They know how unfair the status quo system is. They know the risks they face and how easily everything can fall apart. They're not fooled when people like you claim that our system works great.

In fact, they are very likely to find that sort of condescending obliviousness offensive. So by all means, keep it up. You're just driving more people away from the Republican party.

Fear is perfectly OK when it's based in reality rather than some right-wing delusion. Right-wing ideology is based on nothing but delusion.

No matter what happens we are going to enact healthcare reform by the end of the year.

Democrats could turn to a budget procedure known as "reconciliation." That would give the health care reform bill privileged status and allow it to pass with a simple 50 vote majority rather than the 60 votes usually needed to advance legislation in the Senate.

The healthcare overhaul is one of the most complex legislative attempts by Congress. It carries a pricetag of $1 trillion over 10 years, is more than 1,000 pages long, and will place new obligations on every American and all businesses operating in the United States.

It would set up a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers, an reform falsely branded by fearmongering Republicans as a "government takeover" of the highly profitable medical insurance industry that has basically bribed them to lie to the American people.

Reform will require those who can afford it to buy health insurance, help those who cannot afford it, and oblige large employers to contribute to the cost of coverage for their workers.

The obstructionist insurance industry would be bared from charging more or refusing to cover people because of their medical histories.

Doctor's and hospital's Medicare payments based on quality of care, not the number of services they order.

yep, see folks, the Democrats don't give a shit what you think or feel about anything...they have become the dictators whether we like it or not..even though the polls have been showing that more people don't want this bill, they plan to step over you anyway...

may they all rot in Hell

Apparently the compassionless conservatives will never vote for anything that benefits poor and middle class people.

Fortunately we don't need their votes since the November 2008 elections that paved the way for President Obama's historic victory.

Like the voters already have, it's time the majority in Congress turned their backs on the party of obstruction.

Democratic leaders are going to pass the health care reform bill despite the desperate propaganda of the rightwingnuts, whose credibility is as weak as their numbers.

Reform passage won't even require any of the so-called Blue Dogs, much less any of the few Republicans left in Congress.

Budget reconciliation, a parliamentary tactic that allows passage of a bill with a simple majority, rather than the 60 votes generally required in the Senate is clearly one of the contingencies.

President Obama will be revered for all time as the savior of our country's health care.

The GOP will continue to shrink until it's influence is completely nil.

Don't worry about it, the Dems will be looking for new jobs in 2010.

The voters have rejected the obstructionism of the GOP.

They want hope and change.

That's what they're going to get.

Once voters see the security they'll get from health insurance reform, it'll be the GOP looking for jobs.
