is it the end of public schools in LA because they all suck so bad no one in their right mind would keep sending their kids there?......
 
When you have money it is a lot easier to make the religious indoctrination argument and get other peolpe with money and a similar mindset to support it. Telling that to a family without money and therefore no options to move to a different school district away from a failing school isn't the same. "Your child should stay in his failing school because I do not believe he should have the option to go elsewhere because that elsewhere may teach something religious I don't like".

Again, vouchers are no panacea for our educational challenges. But what they do offer is for the opportunities for some families to have their child have a better option to improve themselves.

??....actually, I suspect that the majority of beaten and raped children are the victims of their parents....but far be it from me to require a liberal to tell the truth.....
 
There are plenty of secular private schools. There is Lakeside School in north Seattle (of Bill Gates & Paul Allen fame), for example, although it costs a fortune to attend. Down in Tacoma there's Charles Wright Academy.

He did mention teachers should earn a living wage. (I should ask Howey this directly even though I responded to PP's post) What public school teacher doesn't earn a 'living wage' today? Obviously in California teachers probably earn more than other states but I know here they earn in the $60k to $70k range which certainly doesn't make one rich but is well above any definition of 'living wage'.
 
Howie claims the best school system is the DoD school system.....he also says the problem with our public school system is that our teachers are among the worst paid in the world.....interestingly I found this....
