Is this Capitalism?

You started this thread and posted an article about legislation in the House regarding whether TikTok should be forced to divest from the CCP, asking whether this is capitalism or not, and then you ask "what legislation" when it gets discussed?!

My guess is you thought you had some gotcha moment when in fact you didn't actually read what the article was about.

Guess away, that is your prerogative. That is not the truth. I do not care about your guesses. You are desperate to find some fault. I understand, keep at it, I am sure you will find one eventually.

My discussion is about why Trump has instructed his minions to punish Facebook.

“If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck will double their business,” the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee wrote on his social media platform on Thursday, referring to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Trump said he didn’t want Facebook to “d[o] better,” calling the company “a true Enemy of the People.”

You didn't know about the legislation, the legislation that Biden said he would sign. Trump would have signed the legislation previously but is now tight with a large TikTok shareholder and his flipped his position. You asked if this legislation is capitalism. And if it is about picking winners and losers should the President (whoever it is) sign it or not sign it based on what is capitalism?

Why do you think I did not know about the legislation?

My point is not Biden's position on the issue, my point is the Trumppers position when they scream about Socialism all day. My point is not about the legislation, it is about Trumps comments, which show why he supports the legislation... because it punishes a company he does not like.

He doesn't support the legislation. If you're claiming the legislation is socialist then why does Biden, who just declared himself a capitalist in the SOTU, support it?

You're trying to create some (partisan) narrative without knowing what's going on here.

These are the facts. Trump tried to do this legislation by executive order when he was President but it was overruled by the courts (it needs to be done by Congress). Congress is working on the legislation now (its very bi-partisan legislation and people on both sides support it and are against it). Trump now opposes it because multi-billionaire TikTok investor Jeff Yass told him to. It's very simple.

Here's more on Biden supporting the legislation. Why do you think he's taking an anti-capitalist position here?

How TikTok Was Blindsided by U.S. Bill That Could Ban It

Executives of the app thought they had fended off attacks. Behind the scenes, lawmakers and Biden officials were working to force its ban or sale.

I'm still so intrigued. Your argument is basically the attempt to pass this legislation (which you say you're not familiar with) is not capitalism and anyone who comments on said legislation (be it for or against) is not a capitalist. That sum it up accurately?

He's trying (rather badly) to invert the argument again. He's trying to blame Trump (a capitalist) for communism all the while trying to put Trump down for being a capitalist. He's locked in paradox. He's quite irrational. He doesn't seem to understand that he can't argue both sides of a paradox without being irrational.

I did not say I was unfamiliar with any legislation, I simply asked what specific legislation you were referring to, a time after the thread was started, and after some discussion. You are so desperate to find a hole in any discussion I am having.

He doesn't need to. Attempted forced of negative proof fallacy.
YOU have to make the solid argument. Until you do, it's just saying nothing. Circular argument fallacy (fundamentalism).

His guess is accurate. That's why you care about it.

Attempted force of negative proof fallacy. YOU have not made an argument yet.

He doesn't need to. YOU need to make your argument and the reasoning for it. Burden fallacy.

He hasn't. Facebook is the greatest damage to Facebook.

Trump is probably right.
Trump said he didn’t want Facebook to “d[o] better,” calling the company “a true Enemy of the People.”
It is.

TikTok isn't capitalism, Sock.

Neither Biden, Trump, Congress, nor the Supreme Court has any authority to pass a law limiting free speech. That includes ANY speech, including TikTok.

I am not claiming the legislation is socialist... I am saying Trumps words about it are authoritarian and what people who hate socialism say will happen in a socialist system.

Biden can say what he wants, he accepts a system that blends elements of Socialism in with Capitalism (as all presidents do). Trump not only accepts such a blend, he goes a step further, and considers how it affects him personally when considering that blend, he relishes the idea of choosing who to help and who to bankrupt based on his it affects him and based on personal grudges.

Trumppers, in general, scream at the idea of any socialism, yet they support candidates who promote elements of it into our system.

I never claimed Biden did not support the system, it is how the two think about the legislation that illustrates how they govern.

I give you credit for thinking and writing deeper about the subject than most. You are, in this case, fixated on the legislation and who supports it, that is not what this is about.

This is about the Trump quote on how he evaluates it.

Ready for my impression of a leftist?

"Trump Trump trump, trump trump trump trump trump trump. "Trump Trump Trump Trump trump? Trump!"
