Is Obama responsible for the jobs coming back?

he wasn't responsible for the job losses, but i've seen some on the left who are saying he is responsible for the job gains. i don't think he is that responsible. we put too much responsibility on a president when it comes to jobs. imo, the market is taking care of itself for most the part.

Whether the president is responsible doesn't matter. He is held responsible.


By the way, this thread is hilarious coming on the day of the best jobs report in months. To pull a Yurt -- if the economy shed 200,000 jobs, Yurt wouldn't be asking if the president is responsible.

There are two questions. One is what role does the President('s) (policies) play in the economy. That's a general question of principle. The next question is more specifice to each President.

Not asking in a disrespectful way Yurt but what kind of response do you think you might get with this question? Your question leads to complete partisan bitching. We know what people's responses are going to be. It's like lighting a match with gas at your feet.
 
Unemployment is actually at 15% when you consider those who have given up and those who can't find anything but part-time work.

Then we have unemployment at 16% in the black community. Now why would a demographic vote for the current President when their unemployment rate is at 16%? Race and party. People can be programmed.

What was their unemployment before he took office? What has the black unemployment rate been for over the past decade or more? A 16% number means nothing without something to compare it to.
 
With regards to the election, it won't matter. It is perception that matters and like it or not, if the unemployment rate continues to decline (due to more jobs, not due to people dropping off the ranks) then he is very likely to be re-elected.

That said... to answer your question, no... it is not his policies that have helped create job growth. If anything his policies (or lack thereof) are hindering it.

Obama should have addressed the tax code while he had his super majorities. Even if they had done something like extend the Bush cuts until 2012 and then reinstated the higher levels of taxation. At least it would have been decided and thus not still creating so much uncertainty.

Obama should have pushed to reimplement Glass Steagall rather than creating the monstrosity that is Dodd/Frank. They could have addressed regulating the mortgage industry separately. But due to Wall Street bribing the two parties, the firms can still take way too much risk with leveraging and we can easily end up in the same situation in the future.

actually, before he trolled, dung gave an answer i agree with. whether the president is responsible or not, he is held responsible. i'm sure there will be partisan bitching, but i think most can give an honest answer.

do you think obama is responsible for the jobs added recently?

Obama has attacked most industries, when if he supported anything besides health insurers, solydra and GM he could have created way more jobs.

debate that you're a panty waste? there is no need to debate the obvious.

obama could have created more jobs....he failed to make sure there was shovel ready jobs as he promised. there really is not much to debate about that.

Damn right.....Obama is not that responsible for job losses, only Bush or Republicans are responsible for job losses......

Obama is only responsible for any perceived job gains, no matter how dubious the claims.....

Its been that way since Jan. 2009, why would it change now..............

that is the liberal view of things

take mott for example....bush is responsible for all job losses, bush did not bailout the banks and bush did not bailout the auto industry....mott also said obama "saved" us, bailed out the banks and the auto industry. true story.

Personally, I think the job situation is still in blame for bad mode, not credit for good mode. Unemployment is at 8.5%. At the present rate, we won't reach full employment until after 2020. That's not a situation I would want "responsibility" for.

Obama should take credit for not folding to Republican demands that would make it substantially worse. That's about it.
