True enough, but old Ronnie's American reminiscence was myopic ... a segregated military until Truman....a political party that had to pander to racists in order to win votes, redlining and even discrimination in the GI bill...let's not forget the screwing over of Native Americans, how American Japanese had to fight for land and such they lost during internment.
That is why there is so much division in this country. You can't be wholly proud of American achievements when they were built in part on a support of bigotry & racism.

True, but when you teach/indoctrinate kids into believing that our history of racism and bigotry take a back seat to our achievements, then you have a section of the population that believes the complaints by the "minorities" are overblown and/or without merit. That causes problems, because no one wants to hear that the world their parents fondly reminisce about requires turning a blind eye as to how "the other half lives".

America is great. America has always been great and it's still great now. That's why so many people want to come to America, because America is great. America has the greatest economy in the world and the greatest military force in the world.
