Kamala Harris’s Wikipedia biography states that she was born in Oakland, CA in 1964 to immigrant parents and speculation exists that she plans to run for president in 2020, Golden State citizen Gary Wilmott has been seeking information as to her citizenship status and whether or not she meets the constitutional requirement of “natural born Citizen.”

The Wikipedia entry states that Harris’s mother, Dr. Shyamala G. Harris, was from India, arriving in Berkeley, CA in 1960.

Dr. Harris passed away in February 2009. Her “Legacy” obituary states that she arrived alone in the U.S. at the age of 19 after having earned her undergraduate degree from Delhi University.

Kamala’s father, Donald Harris, is a retired Stanford University economics professor whose biography affirms that he arrived in the U.S. in 1961 as an “Issa Scholar” from Jamaica. It adds that he was born in Jamaica and naturalized in the U.S. but does not provide the year.

Neither parent reportedly was present in the U.S. as a legal resident for five years prior to Harris’s birth, a requirement to apply for naturalization, Wilmott observed in an interview with The Post & Email on Thursday.

Natural born status doesn't tend to bother Republicans so long as the candidate is white -- for example, Romney's dad was born in Mexico, McCain was born in Panama, and Andrew Jackson was born to a pair of immigrants living in the US. But when the candidate isn't white, people on the right tend to have a feeling that they couldn't be real Americans, and therefore they fumble around looking for a way to argue they're not entitled to run for the presidency.

Do you honestly believe race wasn't a factor that drove the utterly bizarre Birther conspiracy in the Obama years? It was so consistently led by notorious racists, like Trump, that there's no doubt in my mind that what was really at work, psychologically, was a gut feeling, among white racists, that a black man couldn't be truly American. This thread seems to be pushing something similar, and I don't think it's a coincidence that it's another candidate of color.

Looking back at it, I was too laid back about Trump's hustles. Back in the era before he ran for president, I figured that he was mostly just preying on the worst parts of people's natures, and so his victims were mostly people who deserved it. If you were so lazy and morally defective that you shelled out your hard-earned money for "Trump University," in hopes of learning Trump's tricks for scamming people, rather than spending that money on a real university that would require real learning, well then you sort of deserved to be taken to the cleaners. The same is true for the "get rich quick" types whose greed allowed them to be taken in so easily when Trump was looking for some naive marks to offload his failing resorts to before they went belly up. And the same was also true for the racists whose hatred of minorities made them so easy for Trump to pull down into his sewer with him when it came to his birther nonsense. But then, in 2016, something changed. The idiots who fell for his crap stopped only hurting themselves and started hurting America as a whole. They turned their naivete into our problem, instead of just their own.
