You're assuming that he never leaves Texas and your kids will never leave Colorado, aren't you?

You're also forgetting that some authorities estimate that perhaps 1 in 7 motorists are uninsured, which means plenty of STF-a-likes are riding down your streets.

Your insurance has no coverage limits? Awesome.

Any insurance would have some coverage limits.

And what were the answers?

You have avoided giving any.

Yes, I doubt, despite not knowing. Yes, I know that very foolish people think they can self-insure.

Which doesn't change that if he has the ability to cover the requisite liability he'd still be able to do so.

I think our disagreement is more likely to be on the practicality of preferring principle over personal responsibility. His principles won't feed his family if he's in a coma and has no insurance.
Again, he has put something on the line for his beliefs. You would not, we get that. You would cowardly do as you were told.

You "believe", but do not know.

Well, the other option is to assume you are stupid. I do not.

Which is why I didn't say it would. The act of procuring the insurance is the responsible action.
It is, in your opinion, a responsible action. It does not however cause anybody to drive responsibly, nor does not having insurance cause anybody to drive irresponsibly.

Why, thank you...I think.

A portion of Rootbeer's or ((\\//))'s argument is that it is good to force people to buy insurance so that their family doesn't have to pay for their funerals, medical bills, etc.

we own 3 houses, one with bofa, these are our insurance

except that all three houses are insured and both of our cars including a million dollar umbrella liability policy

we pay $190 a month for auto/home insurance plus $624 for medical insurance (medicare)

in california if you want to drive you have to be insured and have a license as driving is considered a privilege not a right

having said that, there is a large number of drivers with neither insurance nor license

Any insurance would have some coverage limits.

And if both parties have insurance, as the law requires, those limits are not exceeded so quickly when a catastrophic claim is filed.

You have avoided giving any.

Perhaps you just don't like the answers I gave.

So he's a millionaire? If he's in an accident and someone is hurt or killed, and plaintiffs' attorney does an asset search, he probably won't be one for long.

He puts his familys' financial future on the line every time he drives. You find that "courageous"?

LOL, again, nobody said that having insurance causes responsible behavior. Having insurance is responsible behavior.

No, a part of the reason for having insurance is to mitigate the financial effects of accidental death or injury. That's why people who care about their surviving family members have insurance that would pay those final expenses.
