In almost every debate with pinheads regarding the left-right issues of the day, it seems to be a central theme (and myth) that the leftist positions affords some sort of "help" for those in need, while the position of the right is often painted as uncaring, unconcerned, and cold-hearted. It's as if the left has convinced themselves, that those of us on the right, just don't care about people, we actually glean joy from making people suffer more! Whether it's denying them health care or sending them off to die in wars... those of us on the right just don't give a shit about the welfare of others! This is what liberals believe with all their heart and soul, and they believe by being leftist nitwits, this absolves them from any such blame or criticism.
Now we can go back and take a look at liberal socialist programs of entitlement, which have been in place since the days of FDR, and we can clearly see where the policies have not solved the problems, and in many cases, the problem is worse than ever. Even though we have spent untold trillions on "welfare" programs, we still have relatively the same percentage of people below poverty level, as we ever have. Nothing has really changed. Each year, we pour millions of dollars more than the previous year, into illiteracy programs, but we still have relatively the same number of illiterate people in America. The same for the homeless problem, and the same will be true for the uninsured and health care. We will still have people who get sick and die as a result of not obtaining adequate health care, even though it was readily available and free of charge to them! Just wait and see if I'm not right about this. Liberals don't want to believe it, because that is how a liberal is programmed to think... these government programs HELP people, and that's the important thing!
Is it that these programs actually HELP, or is this merely a false perception the left has? Well, look at the results of their programs... do we have fewer poor people because of welfare? Do we have fewer hungry people because of Food Stamps? Do we have better educated people because of free public education? Do we have fewer homeless people because of free public housing? Nope... these problems have not gone away at all, and perplexed liberals assume it is simply because we haven't thrown enough money at the problem! Those of us on the right understand, the problems can't be fixed with government programs. In most cases, the government program facilitates more of the behavior! Why work, when the government will send you a check? Why pay rent when the government will pay it for you? Basic human nature drives people to take advantage of these programs, and continue on with the problem... liberals are codependent facilitators.
Let's take an objective look at a typical "welfare family" in America... Typically, they are a single-parent minority with little education, and more children than they ever should have produced. Already, there are several major problems... single parent... uneducated... lots of mouths to feed... None of the rest of us made these conditions, the person responsible for those conditions, is the welfare recipient themselves. Liberals simply don't accept this premise, it is not the welfare recipient's fault they had too many illegitimate children, or that they dropped out of school, that was just 'circumstances' of their environment, I suppose. In any event, the burden of responsibility is removed from these people, and placed on the back of society, because that "HELPS" people!
How are we "helping" by facilitating codependent behavior? By creating a "welfare state" where people are dependent on government for an income and housing, we effectively imprison these people to a life of destitution. We have created a welfare "trap" which is difficult to escape. Those who are on government assistance can attest to this, you can't go get an education or a decent paying job, without losing your benefits and having to find a new home. The system isn't designed to reward success, it is designed to maintain poverty. In the end, have we really "helped" these people? Or have we simply established a system which fosters prejudice and further divides us? Again, take an objective look at the results, and the answer is crystal clear.
Affirmative Action is another good example of Liberals attempting to "HELP" people, and falling short on that objective. It doesn't "help" someone to say, we're going to make a law that people MUST hire you because of your skin color, because you are too ignorant and uneducated to find a decent job on your own, without our help. It does serve to prop up old myths and stereotypes, and it does serve to demoralize those who are supposedly being "helped" by the Liberals. Which is better, a minority who KNOWS their accomplishments and achievements are a result of hard work and diligent efforts on their part, or a minority who KNOWS the only reason they even have a job, is because they are the right color? Which of these is more "helpful" to the person in question?
Issue after issue, it is the same thing, liberals have a gross misconception of what "helps" people and what "hurts" people. Despite obvious results, they continue to promote these government programs which imprison people to the government, and effectively do the opposite of "helping" them.
