All the more reason in my opinion to support a candidate that would, but unfortunately cult of personality won out on the republican side. Hopefully in four years we will make either Clinton or Trump a one term president and start to take real steps to refocus our government to that of a limited and constitution based authority.

Trump can act however he wants but being truthful does not mean attaching an insult to everyone you disagree with. He's allowed to, but that's not being truthful or standing up for your beliefs, it's just being a jerk. Based on his campaigning and "suggestions" Trump doesn't seem to have true beliefs in my opinion. Neither does Clinton really.

I agree with you but the problem is that candidate may never show up. And when they do, they tend to lose to democrats because democrats don't play nice. Romney and McCain were both nice principled guys the Clinton machine would obliterate.

I wish Trump wasn't so rough around the edges [so was General Patton lol] and was a true conservative but he is what he is. And he's the only one standing between Hillary and the WH.

Be that as it may, my post was about being PC....not about Trump or Clinton.....or making what others think are insulting comments...

Of course, telling the truth, as you see it, might be insulting to someone....but at least its saying what you believe is the truth.....

People have made up their minds about Clinton and Trump and all the others already, so there is not much point in airing our personal opinions....no minds will change.

To your last point you are 100% correct, at least on this board. Around the country there are people who don't follow politics like we on here do so they can legitimately be called "undecided". But around here it's arguing into the wind

PC operates on fear or peer pressure. In our culture no one wants to even be perceived in the slightest as a bigot or hater. Politicians and most media types are highly sensitive to the charge, so they walk on egg shells any time the subject of race, Muslims or the current gender nonsense comes up.

Trump doesn't give a shit lol. Why should he? He still has his day job if he has to bail on politics. He's a breath of fresh air in that regard and even many of his conservative critics like that about him.

I always think that when someone says he's "telling it like it is', that translates to "I'm going to insult somebody and if they don't like it, tough shit."

I'd argue it depends on the situation. Think of a relationship for instance where if one person isn't interested but they drag it on because they are afraid to tell the other person how they really feel. Ultimately wouldn't "telling it like it is" up front be better for both people so they can move on rather than delaying the inevitable?

Or if a politician actually said 'I know voters want to pay lower taxes but receive even more services and that's not possible'. Imagine someone "telling it like it is" in that scenario. Probably wouldn't be a good move politically but would be pretty darn close to the truth.

Sometimes thats true, sometimes not....and there are some people that "just can't handle the truth"......and that is obvious on jpp.....
you can show people videos of something being said and they will still deny what they see with own eyes.....its actually pretty fascinating.....

Personally, I'd rather hear the truth and face it.....I find a lie is even more insulting....

I like your response better than my own....it would depend on the situation and who the persons involved are....and with a little effort, you could pose your criticisms in a diplomatic way,
while still being truthful....sometimes.

In your first example the person probably wouldn't sit the other down and start by saying "I'm going to tell it like it is. We're over." And when did you hear a politician start his comments by saying those words?

"I'm telling it like it is" is pretty much an opinion masquerading as fact. And that's me, telling it like it is. :)
