I think that visitors are expect to conform to the customs of the country they're visiting, and they understand this. Just remember that no leader, with the possible exception of Kim Jong Un, is as thin-skinned as trump.

Would you have been for Trump[ tearing down the East Wing before he did it? I know, you will lie about it here, but think about what you would have thought if Biden did it, or Obama. The right raised hell when Obama turned a couple tennis courts into a basketball court. He made it so it was easily reversible because he knew he was not a king and should not impose his choices on the people ot history.

Our public architecture has never until now tried to evoke the gaudy excesses of European Royal 👑 palaces.

If Trump would have gone through the traditional public consultation and approval process, we might have had a more functional and less gaudy meeting room, one more consistent with our democratic republic heritage and our traditional public architecture.
