Is California Cracking Up?

I thought you were making a play on the GEICO insurance commercial. Interesting history though, I wasn't aware of that.

My brother-in-law got a good job after college and bought himself a brand new '70 Judge GTO. I'm sure his insurance premiums were through the roof. He had the car a month before it was stolen in front of his Aunt's house on a busy arterial street around 6:30 pm during the week. The cops found it plowed into a dumpster three days later with the seats slashed, dashboard destroyed, engine chrome and all the body panels beaten in by a ball bat, all the windows and lights smashed- totalled. Some joy riders just couldn't stand the fact that some guy owned it and they didn't. That's the Boston that I grew up with.

Ever seen the movie Good Will Hunting- that's pretty damn close.

The $ 100 beaters!

I had a '72 Ford LTD with well over 100k miles on it that was rusted from the top of the wheel wells down. I could tune that thing well, and it ran like a top. Had it "pegged" on the 120mph speedo once- and it was still accelerating. I did the body repairs myself, did a $300 paint job and it looked pretty damn nice. Then some ashole tore my passenger front fender all up getting out of a parking space. Then a tractor trailer ripped the rear drivers fender. After that I gave it the nickname: UAV-1. Or Urban Assault Vehicle #1. #1

HA! Those were the days! I actually feel a little bad for today's generation sometimes. The stuff we could get away with!

Victor Hansen is a pretty far rightwing dude, one who thought the Iraq War Disaster was a great idea, and who has consistently been preoccupied with islamophobia.

And thus I do not find this guy to be a person of sound judgement, and place little weight on his musings.

Cawacko, you know as well as I do that the rightwing has been predicted California's collapse for 30 years. It did get really bad when the guy you voted for - The Governator - was at the helm. But a lot of the mess the guy you voted for left behind is being cleaned up by the guy I voted for, Governor Moonbeam. Who has undeniably done a better job than the guy you voted for, it is not even debatable .

What do you disagree with that he wrote? This is not about brown vs Arnold. What facts do you think he has wrong? What do you think he is currently misrepresenting about the state? Is he lying about the cost of real estate? Is he lying about the income inequality? Is he lying about the amount of debt?

Educated people should be able to have this discussion.
