Yeah. So. Dutch. The possibility of a few hundred people being killed is also a wing nut fantasy.

There may be one or two Paul Pelosi attacking shit stains out there, but not hundreds.

There are a lot of frightened people on both sides of the aisle right now who think someone from the other side is going to come into their homes and murder them.

It is up to smart and considerate people, like us to "turn down the temperature" not crank it up.

I can't tell you what to do.

You think the Oklahoma bombing is fiction? What about 9/11? Do you believe, as several on JPP do, that it was faked like Sandy Hook?

At most, a handful of people carried out Oklahoma. Under 20 planned and executed 9/11. One nutjob and a failed mental healthcare system carried out Sandy Hook.

It would be. What Earl Turner and the other White Nationalists are proposing is an authoritarian state with one party and one leader "elected" for life.

If you want to avoid Godwin then think Franco, Pinochet or Mussolini.

There have been many occasions where White Libs have ... cheered and rejoiced in, and declared the death of the republican party. One party rule has always been an ambition of leftwing Socialists. The Dems controlled Congress for more than 4 decades solid, from 1952 to 1994.

Now they are whining about one party rule for the first time ever? :laugh:

Well, I whine about it either way. We do have posters here who declare the end of the other party whenever their side wins.

I've always favored having at least 2 strong parties. I don't want a weak 2nd party. Really, I'd prefer 3-4 strong parties though.

He makes a persuasive case, and lest anyone think it's hyperbole, you really just have to look at history to see how authoritarian regimes took power. In Maher's estimation, the GOP will take over Congress, and impeach Biden for everything until he's a complete lame duck. Even if he can beat the Trump/Lake ticket at that point, it won't matter. Trump will do the same thing that he did in '20, but this time, with an "army of election deniers" who are about to win next week & who will do for Trump what he couldn't get done last time. They'll "find" votes, and do all of his other bidding to effectively overturn the will of the voters.

He cited the WI GOP governor candidate, who forgot his poker face & said Republicans will never lose another election if he wins.

He paints a pretty bleak picture beyond that. Freedom of religion, other parts of the Bills of Rights, free & fair elections - we'll look back on all of those with nostalgia.

And again: this has happened before in history, and it hasn't been that rare. You don't know what you've got, 'til it's gone.

I just can't wait 'till the vote count is all over, hopefully not too late next week. Trust me, all the handwringing on both sides will stop, a picture of a Democrat making love to a sheep will pop up, or another pro-life Republican forcing his girlfriend to have an abortion will come up, and we'll all be talking about something else.

Well, there are just certain White Lib leftist policies that have to go, not the party. Though they should change their name with their long history of insurrection, slavery, Jim Crow, Jew hatred, War, confiscating workers' pay, confiscating workers' gold, concentration camps and misogyny.

I think 2 is good. Trump succeeded as a 3rd party outsider candidate by taking over one of the major parties. Bernie Sanders almost did it and as a result, has greatly changed Dem policy.


And we have enough shenanigans with just 2 parties. :)
