Is a State Requiring a Candidate for Presidency to Release their taxes, Constitutional?

I just read that Hawaii is putting forth a bill to require candidates for presidency to release their taxes, to the public, in order to be on the state's ballot. It also said that CA is also considering such a measure.

I don't see how that is constitutional, as the constitution does not require this. To me, this seems like the states are placing themselves above federal law on a federal issue. If these bills pass, I believe they will be struck down as unconstitutional.

I don't think so. The states run their election and have their right to make laws within their state. The electoral college is the federal part of the election
 
I hope Trump keeps defying the conflict of interest norms and refuses to release his taxes. It will be so much easier to impeach him. We have a right to see his taxes and business holdings. He works for us now. If he refuses, we get rid of him like any other employee that defies our requests

Maybe, but the federal election is governed by federal law. I don't know if states can require more than the constitution. What if states required birth certificates or college grades?

You have a "right" to see his taxes? From where does right originate?
