Plus Russians tend to think that the Russian Empire has been historically awesome too...playing very junior partners to the Chinese Empire is humiliating. And they got to be very junior partners because of the crash of the West, not having the ability to drive a better deal with the Chinese.
Did you see where Putin the other week was talking formal military alliance with the Chinese? Why do you think he said it? I have been saying that they want to keep the nature of the Empire on the down low for now, that the longer we dont understand the force of the Empire the better, that they want to Gobsmack us on their schedule, when the timing is ideal for them.
Lots of speculation about why Putin was talking, I have not figured it out yet.

Right, but that does not answer the question of why Putin is bringing up the idea of a formal agreement with the Chinese now. Putin is extremely calculating, what was that all about?
I have not seen a single "expert" say this yet but I suspect that this was all about preparing the Russian people for what is coming....Russia is part of the Chinese Empire, which is going head to head with the West and expects to win. It is going to take the Russian people time to adjust to the new reality.

There is no advantage in warning the enemy, plus that has not been how Putin has operated. That is also not how the Chinese operate....they keep us unaware, let us seep in our fantasies/ignorance, for as long as possible.
And Western intel services claimed to have no idea how successful Putins modernization of the military was until we all watched how well it performed on the battlefield.
