Esmail Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the course of negotiations with Iran's attackers, emphasized that while Iran had been pursuing diplomacy, it was targeted by military aggression for the second time in less than a year.
He noted that the aggressors have failed to achieve their objectives thus far.
Baghaei stated that Israel and the United States will ultimately be forced to accept a cessation of hostilities.
He cautioned observers that there is no "ceasefire" as such, since the brazen war criminals have violated the terms they agreed to repeatedly.
Nevertheless, as the injured party, Iran hopes for an opportunity to bring the attacks to a complete end and remove our people from the shadow of military threats.
Recall that one round of talks was held in Islamabad without success when the Americans walked away after reneging on their commitments to Iran's ten points.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei refuted the lies of the enemy. Iran did not close the strategic waterway. Unsafe conditions caused by the opposing side’s actions disrupted safe passage and shipowners and insurers reacted accordingly. Even at the height of the attacks by Israel and America, Iran assisted vessels not aligned with the aggressors to safely transit the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that, as a coastal state, Iran has the right to take necessary measures to counter threats within its waters.
Due to shifting and contradictory positions put forth by the United States, it seems obvious such behavior reflects confusion and a lack of commitment to obligations.
Many statements made by U.S. officials are largely rhetorical and lack practical substance.
No agreement has been fully implemented due to the other side’s repeated failures to uphold its commitments.
The foreign ministry spokesperson also rejected rumors about transferring Iran’s enriched uranium or halting its nuclear program, emphasizing that such options have never been proposed by Iran and that these claims are part of psychological warfare aimed at influencing negotiations.
Referring to talks with the United States, Baghaei said negotiations are being pursued within a comprehensive framework aimed at ending the attacks by America and Israel, with issues such as sanctions relief, compensation for damages, and a full cessation of hostilities being addressed together.
He dismissed claims about direct negotiations or an imminent final agreement, stating that any remarks outside official channels are merely media speculation. He stressed that any potential agreement must fully secure Iran’s interests and respect its sovereignty.
In conclusion, Baghaei underscored the need for vigilances, noting that past experiences have shown there is no room for optimism regarding American or Israeli promises.
