I don't believe that the Iranians would want to pollute their own waterways. Maybe a technological variety of submersible mines would leave them in control without ecological damage. Perhaps they will demonstrate what they will do to defend their own marine territory. They must have been planning for it for decades.
Whatever, they will close the Straits if they think it would be advantageous.
Meanwhile, Trump wants to own Hormuz, Suez, Panama, Canada and Greenland.
