I think many people are looking through the wrong end of the telescope when looking at things like climate change and pandemics.

The future is unknown, so we can only guess the outcomes based upon the data. While some JPP members might go with the odds of if offered a 90% chance of winning $1M vs. a 10% chance of a bullet in the back of the head, how many would be willing to put their kids on a school bus if they knew there was a 10% chance their kids would die?

Only extremists are running around claiming we're all gonna die from climate change. Intelligent people understand that it would create major problems for the nation and the world. Even our military is concerned for multiple reasons.* Only idiots ignore a problem that could have devastating effects on their children and grandchildren.

With Iran, they'd be stupid to launch a nuclear strike since it'd sign their own death warrant. However, if Iran builds nuclear missiles, that will encourage Saudi Arabia and others to do likewise rather than be left behind. The more missiles the more likely one will be launched with severe consequences due to counterstrikes and the collapse of the global economy as nukes take out a third of the world's oil production.
