Ukraine war crimes investigation receives support of 45 nations

More than 40 countries have agreed to work together to investigate suspected war crimes by Russian forces in Ukraine as the latest shelling of a civilian area killed at least 20 people in the city of Vinnytsia in central Ukraine.

The pledge to coordinate international efforts to bring Russia’s military forces to justice came on Thursday when 45 nations signed a political declaration during a conference at the headquarters of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

The signatories included European Union states as well as Britain, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia. The group promised to provide 20 million euros ($20m) to assist the ICC and to support the prosecutor general’s office in Ukraine and efforts by the United Nations to investigate war crimes.

But Bush looked into his soul and said he was a good man?

Let’s remember just how long the Republican Party has been in love with Putin

I remember a lot of liberals being pretty shocked that Bush gazed adoringly into Putin's baby blues and pronounced that he had a good soul.

The question is if it even goes beyond garden variety war crimes, and crosses the line into genocide.

Biden was right to call it genocide.

The parliaments of Latvia and Estonia — former Soviet states that are now members of NATO and the European Union — officially declared on Thursday that Russia has committed genocide in Ukraine.

The Riigikogu, Estonia’s parliament, “recognizes as genocide against the Ukrainian people the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and its political and military leadership in conducting the renewed military aggression against Ukraine,” the legislature said in a statement on Thursday.

Why have we not suspended normal relations with miscreant nations like Russia and most of the Middle Eastern nations?

Sleeping with rats only results in rabies.

We need the European Union, and we need to straighten out East Asia, and particularly China, a little bit more.
We don't need the shitholes in our business.
They just drag us down.

That was definitely a disturbing comment, wasn't it? Evince is right; if the Reichwingers had their way we'd be Russia Lite.

As for the war crimes, how are they going to hold anyone responsible while the war is still ongoing? And after it's over, then what?

I think at a bare minimum it puts senior Russian field commanders on notice that they are being closely watched, and it might incentivize them to have their officers maintain better military discipline among the troops.

That in itself could save lives, and would make any war crimes investigation worthwhile, even if Putin and senior Kremlin leaders elude the arms of justice.

Don't forget Hunter got millions from Russian oligarch. Nothing is done like that without Putin's permission. I guess Dementia Joe paid him back by approving the Nord Stream pipeline than Trump killed.
