WHAT DO I MEAN BY A "VAPE" and "VAPING"

Before I start, I wanted to make clear what I mean by "vaping" nicotine liquid. I'm taking about inhaling nicotine vapour from one of those devices has a has a "small tank" on it which you fill up with nicotine "juice." The nicotine "juice" is sold in small plastic bottles, for example the ones I use hold 15 ml of nicotine "juice." The "juice" is an inert liquid - usually propylene glycol - that contains 1.6% nicotine; or, if you like, every 1 ml of my "juice" contains 16 mg of pure nicotine In addition, some flavouring chemicals are added: like cherry flavour, blue-berry flavour, mint flavour, etc; there are hundreds of different flavours of nicotine "juice" for sale. The vaping device also has two rechargeable batteries and an electric coil; all in the one unit. So, the way it all works is you make sure the batteries are charged, then you fill up the little tank on the device with nicotine juice. Finally. to "vape," you depress a button on the device and an electric current from the batteries causes the coil to glow red-hot. The hot coil vaporises the nicotine "juice" around it. As you depress the button you simultaneously inhale the vapour that is produced through a mouth-piece on the device. The vapour goes into your lungs and the nicotine in it is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream - in 7 seconds the nicotine reaches your brain. This is what I mean by a nicotine "Vape" (device) and "vaping".

TOBACCO SMOKING IS STILL AMERICA'S NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF PREVENTABLE DEATH

Although the number of Americans who SMOKE tobacco (i.e cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, etc.) has shown an encouraging decrease over recent years. There is no doubt that the use of tobacco in the United States is unquestionably a major, health disaster. In 2023, somewhere around 19% - or 1 in 5 - adults still used at least one tobacco product on a regular (weekly) basis. That represents a total of over 47 million adults (including 30.5 million who smoke cigarettes). Each year 480,000{/B] deaths are attributed to smoking in the US. Smoking tobacco puts you at increased risk of heart disease, lung disease (e.g. emphysema),numerous kinds of cancer anddeath from all causes.

NICOTINE IS NOT THE ROOT OF THE TOBACCO-SMOKING PROBLEM

If you ask a person who regularly smokes tobacco (for example, "Marlboro" or "Phillip Morris" cigarettes) WHY they like smoking, the word "nicotine" is certain to be mentioned pretty soon. Nicotine is the hallmark feature of tobacco. And I think there is a deeply - entrenched subliminal/innate belief among many smokers that inhaling the smokes that is given off by burning tobacco leaf is essentially just "smoking nicotine" and if smoking has disastrous effects on a person's health, then it must be due to nicotine.IOW, without realising it, I think a lot of Americans who still smoke view tobacco and nicotine as an "item", just like "Romeo and Juliet" in Shakespeare's tragedy.

The association of tobacco and nicotine is strong because it has been highlighted in the West for centuries. It began in the mid-16th century with a man named Jean Nicot, a French ambassador to Portugal, who sent tobacco seeds back to Paris in 1550. Both the tobacco plant (Nicotiana tobacam ) and the organic (alkaloid), chemical, nicotine, are named for Jean Nicot . Crude nicotine extract was known by 1571 and the compound was first extracted in its pure form by two German chemists in 1828.They discovered that pure nicotine was an oily, colourless and odourless liquid. The correct, chemical formula of nicotine was determines in 1843 (C10H14N2 and finally (on the historical front) in 1904, nicotine, was made, for the first time, in a laboratory synthesis. So a great deal off time and scholarly effort has been devoted in the to the chemical, nicotine, that exists in the tobacco plant, ( which, BTW, contains, on average, about 5% of the chemical. You Yanks might be interested to know that the "Virginia" variety on Nicotiana tobacum (the tobacco plant) is the richest (best) variety of tobacco plant in the world due to the fact it yeild the highest percentage of nicotine. The plant is named for the US state in which it grows naturally in wide profusion - i.e. Virginia.

In the mid 1960s around 45% of Americans smoked (mostly cigarettes). In 1964, the US Surgeon General released a report warning that smoking can cause cancer and other serious health problems. Everyone with an ounce of brains who smoked, shit themselves, and began trying to ditch the habit poste haste. Since 1964 the number of tobacco smokers in the US has steadily declined; the percentage of smokers in America has now dropped from 45%, in the mid-1960's to 19%, in 2023. But 19% is still, as I mentioned, enough to constitute a major health disaster.

TOBACCO SMOKE...

The smoke that is inhaled from the burning tobacco leaf in a cigarette/pipe/cigar contains over 7000 chemicals. Some of the most toxic ones include: hydrogen cyanide; arsenic; benzene; carbon monoxide; formaldehyde; lead; Plutonium-210;TSNS -Tobacco-specific Nitrous Amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. There are over 70 carcinogens in (cancer - causing chemicals) in tobacco smoke that are known to cause a range of different types of caner; and countless other chemicals that are known to cause serious/lethal heart disease and lung disease, vascular disorders, damage to the eye/vision, and so on. This brings me to my first point:OFF ALL THE TOXIC CHEMICAL THAT EXIST IN TOBACCO SMOKE, NICOTINE IS NOT ONE OF THEM.. Depending on which brand of cigarette you are smoking, it will contain between 8 mg and 20 mg of nicotine, but only about 1 mg of this nicotine is absorbed into the human body. This is a perfectly safe dose of nicotine, even if you smoke 20 or more cigarettes per day, the nictine you ingest will not harm you are cause any kind of serious long-term disease or health disorder of any kind. If you buy a 300ml bottle of relatively pure nicotine liquid (like you used to be able to do legally), and you are a cretin who decides they will drink the whole bottle at once to get "high" THAT will kill you (an in a very unpleasant manner). My point is that nicotine IS a bone fide drug, but the amount of nicotine that is inhaled in the tobacco smoke of one cigarette - 1 mg - is not harmful in itself even if you smoke two packets of 20 "Marlboro" cigarettes every day, it is not the nicotine in those cigarettes that will do you any harm. Rather, it is the multitude of OTHER toxic chemicals in the smoke that will damage your health and possibly kill you prematurely.

WHY DO PEOPLE SMOKE CIGARETTES AND OTHER TOBACCO PRODUCTS LIKE CIGARS AND PIPE TOBACCO?

People smoke tobacco products because the nictine in the smoke is a psychoactive drug; that means when you inhale tobacco smoke it goes into your lungs and many of the chemicals in it are absorbed into your bloodstream through the lining of your lungs. Nicotine is one of them. The nicotine is then pumped up to your brain; when it reaches your brain - in about 7 seconds - it attaches itself to certain regioms of the brain. One of these regions is called the "Reward Centre". When the nicotine hits the "Reward Centre, the later releases a little flood of the brain's very own "Feel-Good" drug, which is called called "dopamine". This dopamine is like "Chemical Sunshine" - it makes you feel pleasantly mellow, congenial and satisfied, at least for a short time. This, BTW, why Hunter Biden smokes vapourised "crack" crystals through a pipe. The vapourised cocaine from the "crack" that he smokes through his heated pipe travels through his lungs and up to his brain very rapidly (just like nicotine). The only difference is that when cocaine (or "crystal meth") hits his "Reward Centre" it instantly dumps a SHIT-LOAD of dopamine through his pea brain. When this happens, Hunter doesn't just feel kind of agreeably, mildly happy, he experiences a hit of euphoria (intense, ecstatic pleasure) that sends him "high as a kite". So high, that he can't think straight (rationally) and does all kinds of stupid, risky things like videoing himself on "the lap-top from Hell" having sex with two prostitutes and a large Pokemon "Squirtle" toy in a hotel bed room, or posing naked for a photo image of himself with an illegal pistol (i.e. handgun) held near his "peenie" to signal to some "Skanky Ho" he's hired that he's a regular Clint Eastwood, (or should I say, "Dirty Hunter"), in bed :):):).

Nicotine is also effective for relieving the symptoms of anxiety, nervous tension, stress, mental agitation and the like. It has a calming, soothing effect on people who are experiencing these kind of feeling. Once again its due to the fact that nicotine acts a certain regions of the brain that are involves in the regulation of anxiety, nervous tension, stress, mental agitation, etc; (I won't bore you with the pharmacological details).

So, these are two of the main reasons that people smoke; namely to experience the pleasurable effects of the drug on their brains/minds.

BUT ISN'T NICOTINE STRONGLY ADDICTIVE ??

The answer is NO, not by itelf. If it was they wouldn't sell NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) products OTC in drug stores. If you're trying to quit smoking you can go to a pharmacy and buy: nicotine patches, nicotine gum, nicotine tablets, nicotine nasal sprays OTC without a prescription in whatever quantity you like. You will notice however that drugstores do not sell: cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin or fentanyl replacement therapy products OTC in the form of:patches, gums, lozenges, nasal sprays, inhalations, etc If nicotine was as powerfully addictive as these kind of drug are do you think the FDA would allow them to be sold OTC like NRT is? I don't think so. In any case, research studies with animals have shown that nicotine is only mildly addictive. Other studies using human subjects have concluded that the craving for cigarettes is due more to smoking being a well-ingrained habit than a true addiction in the that an addiction to heroin, "Meth" or cocaine, is a true addiction.

HERE'S THE RUB... Smoking TOBACCO may well be as addictive as the use of hard drugs like heroin or "Crystal Meth" but nicotine ITSELF is not. There is a substantial amount of published, mainstream, scientific research that supporting the hypothesis that claims there are a multitude of other chemicals in tobacco smoke that BOOST the addictive properties of nicotine. One of these chemicals that has been positively identified is acetaldehyde It's like imagining that nicotine is an 18 year-old boy who is a bit of an ass-hole and has a bad attitude in general. On he own, he's not really a threat or harmful to anyone. But if you put him in a street gang with 10 other teenagers like himself , together they may become very antisocial, dangerous and violent unit. In addition, there are also other chemicals in tobacco smoke that help to keep smokers hooked on tobacco, such as: anabasine; nornicotine; antabine; cotmine and myosmine. So, the whole problem with nicotine is that it HAPPENS to be in tobacco smoke.Ordinary people can't dissociate - in their minds - nicotine and smoking. They think,"Smoking is very bad for you: it's really addictive and it places you at high risk for getting cancer or some other dreadful disease that could kill you well before your time. It has to be the nicotine in tobacco that responsible for all of this - that's what gets you hooked on cigarettes and nicitine's clearly what causes all the terrible diseases that come from smoking. But it's not just everyday people who think like this. The same preconceived, inflexible and stubborn association between nicotine and tobacco smoking is still, unfortunately, prevalent among many members of the scientific community. Like the general public they firmly believe that nicotine (itself) is a toxic and potently addictive substance. (And) this is a serious problem.

WHY IS THIS A SERIOUS PROBLEM ??

It is a problem because over 30 years to date nicotine has been used in cognitive research and the clear conclusions of this research are that nicotine in an effective cognitive enhancer, that is, nicotine is an effective "Smart Drug" a B There are already "Smart Drugs" like "Provigil" and "Modafinil" on the market in the US. Every second person in America who works in a job that makes high demands with respect to: complex problem-solving; mental flexibility, creativity, consistent accuracy/precision, constance vigilance, quick (intelligent response times, the capacity for sustained concentration and focusThe managers and executive staff who work in SILICON VALLEY or on WALL are well-known to use "Provigil" and "Modafinil" to keep their work performance and competitive edge up to scratch.

There are over 45 mainstream, scientific, research investigation that have been conducted to date in countries around the world that shoe nicotine....

*Improves the capacity for sustained attention and mental focus

*Enhances Working Memory

*Improves alertnes (brain arousal levels)

*Improves levels of cognitive control

*Improves measures of information processing speed (IPS)

*Improve IQ score on tests which are designed as pure measures if intelligence (like Raven's Progressive Matrices -RPM) UP TO 6 POINTS !

(1)IN SHORT NICOTINE BOOSTS YOUR INTELLIGENCE, AND IT TURNS OUT TO MUCH BETTER AT DOING THIS THAN THE PRESCRIPTION "SMART DRUGS" LIKE "PROVIGIL" and "MODAFINIL" THAT THE HIGH-FLIERS AND SENIOR TECH-GEEKS IN SILICON VALLEY" OR THE BIG-MONEY BANKERS, TRADERS AND FINANCIERS ON WALL STREET, etc; USE.

(2)NONE OF THE SUBJECTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THESE RESEARCH STUDIES BECAME ADDICTED TO NICOTINE OR EXPERIENCED ANY ADVERSE SIDE-EFFECTS OR WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS WHEN THE STUDIES CONCLUDED

SO WHAT ?

Well, I think that reliable scientific evidence of nicotine's action as an effective "SMART DRUG" is great news, because there are a lot of Americans (in particular, Democrats, and certain individuals on this forum who could well use a decent boost in their IQ). Moreover, nicotine is safe, non-addictive and cheap. With the benefit of more research nicotine cognitive-enhancement products could be developed and sold OTC in drug stores like the existing NRT lozenges, patches, sub-lingual tablets, nasal sprays and inhalations. At present I think the nicotine VAPE devices that use nicotine "juice" are an excellent model for developing future nicotine, "SMART-DRUG" delivery systems. This is because, "Vaping" delivers nicotine to the brain in just 7 seconds, "Vaping" is clean, it is cheap, it is safe (no addiction/withdrawal or toxicity),when practiced responsibly, "Vaping" has zero side --effects THE DOSE AND FREQUENCY OF DOSING OF NICOTINE INHALED CAN BE VARIED PRECISELY TO OPTIMALLY SATISFY INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND IN DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, Vape "juice" comes in 100s of tasty flavours, so every individual is almost certain to find one that they like.
