Insurance companies know their business

I can though....gun freaks will tell you that there is NO difference between a .223 caliber bullet whether it's in a AR15 or a bolt action sporting rifle...or that there is no difference between a 7.62mm round(essentially a .30 caliber) in an AK-47 or in a Deer rifle.....and as far as the characteristics of the round? They're right.

The difference is this.....semi automatic, consumer versions of military "assault" weapons are designed to withstand rapid rates of fire as compared to their Sporting gun cousins...large capacity magazines, pistol grips, barrel shrouds all contribute to a much deadlier weapon than say, a Remington 7600(the deer rifle I own).

In fact, the only difference between the consumer version and the military version is the fact that they can't go fully automatic(without illegally modifying it...which about any gunsmith can do...if they are unscrupulous).

That's what the gun nuts don't tell you.....or at least don't really want you to know....that's why they focus on the round and not the gun.

Don't get me wrong...I like to shoot, hunt and have a handgun to protect my home.....I am not into "banning" anything....if you want a full auto? Great....but you will have to jump through a few.more hoops than a guy looking to buy a hunting rifle.....and I CERTAINLY don't think that expanding background checks to include private sales is in any way unreasonable....that's the difference between me, a responsible GUN OWNER.....and Gun NUTS.

Why should they have to jump through more hoops?

Because some of us don't like murders and think a bit more inconvenience is worth it instead of having some kid sitting in their house get shot by an idiot.

That's just it tekky ....if they are honest to God, law abiding citizens and responsible gun owners, why would they act like the sky is falling over universal background checks? My guess is.....either private sales is the ONLY way they can get their hands on a gun, or they are making money via private sales and they don't give a fuck WHO they sell to...and they don't want to all of a sudden.become accountable either way.

Or maybe because, as I've said over 1,000,000 times now, because its not only unenforceable, but the proposed law would not accomplish what it set out to do, in any way shape or form, and was a much greater burden o. Those law abiding citizens. You are effectively punishing those who have never and would never do anything wrong and you think its a good idea.

Truly stellar and scholarly refutation of my statement. How could I possibly match such an intellect as yours.

I'm tired of arguing guns with you. Over the last couple months, you haven't budged, I haven't budged. So yeah, cuddle with your gun, have fun. I shouldn't have even said anything but I keep thinking you can't be as dense as you seem to be on guns and sensible laws controlling who gets them, but every time you prove to be that dense.

One day I'll learn to just not start.

I don't need a reason. Its my right as a human being. Also, you're on the wrong side of history for your last statement.

No....air's NOT your right as a human being....It's your right as an American Citizen.....forged 230 some years ago when there was no difference between a musket that a member of the Continental Army carried and a musket that a private citizen carried.....and we were ALL untied in a Common Cause....to maintain our independence from a Monarchy 3,000 miles away that taxed us incessantly.....(and here's the DIFFERENCE)....WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

History? How about recent history? Where madmen come.I to.movie theaters and Elementary schools and college campuses and shoot the fuck out of them? How about where Criminals on the street are better armed than the police?

Furthermore .....IT'S NOT your right as an American Citizen to NOT be subject to background checks for criminal and mental disqualifications.

Or they could be protecting a long standing tradition of gun trades in the field or of the passing down of heirlooms from father to son or grandfather to grandson without the hassle, not to mention the cost. All the while these expanded "background checks" aren't likely to stop squat when it comes to felons acquiring firearms.

Well when a sensible law is actually proposed, we'll see where I stand on it. Thus far it hasn't happened.

Any way, shape or form? You got proof on that, Or are you just reading from the NRA talking points?

Right now....if I chose to do so....as a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.....could go buy....say, $50k of assorted firearms....and then turn around and sell them to whoever I want via private sale....and it would be perfectly legal. Even if those arms would end up in the hands of street gangs or psychopaths.....all I would have to say is...."hey...he looked alright to me"

Universal background checks make the SELLER as well as the BUYER accountable.....THAT'S what you don't like.

That would drive a hell of a lot of people out of doing that kind of shit. Sure, there would be some that would take the risk....bit you gotta be shitting me that it wouldn't reduce the numbers.

THAT'S why I say...the people that are most vehemently opposed to this are people with something to lose.......CRIMINALS......THE.MENTALLY ILL.....and most importantly....GUN MANUFACTURERS.

EDIT: oh yeah...and I forgot to add...the Gun Manufacturer's lobbying group....The NRA.

If you READ the Toomey/Manchin bill, you'd know that WAS PROTECTED....as well as even Selling to relatives..... but you didn't, did you?

Ok....just fucking stop.....you aren't talking to some suburban idiot with no knowledge of firearms.

Background checks won't end illegal weapons getting.into.the wrong hands.....but it WILL stop ameteurs who have a hell of a lot to lose from taking the risk of selling without a check.

I'll refute this in much greater detail later, when not on a phone, but in short your example is not legal. It is I. Fact a felony.
