There was none of this when Trump was president:

Both of those weren't something unions made happen...

Ford Motor Co., was the first large US employer to go to a 40 hour work week in 1926. Ford did that to improve working conditions and did it unilaterally without any union input. From there some other companies followed, then Congress passed the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1940 codifying a 40 hour work week. No union involvement.

Like I stated, all unions have done is demand higher and higher wages and benefits while doing nothing to improve worker ability and capacity. In the long run, they work themselves out of their jobs as employers find they can no longer afford union demands. So, the employer shuts down their factory or whatever and moves somewhere labor is cheaper, forced to by idiot union demands.

I think the climate changes. That's a very acceptable and science based idea. I don't think that anthropogenic CO2 is the reason it is changing and those claiming that's the cause are full of shit.

I have no problem with the EPA existing nor with wanting to control pollution. What I have a problem with--and you probably are in this category--is the "zero tolerance" mentality that has infected the EPA and its champions. What this does is create an impossible outcome, where no pollution is allowed.

My question to you would be, How much pollution should we allow? If your answer is "None," then you are an utter and complete fool.

Again not true. That is the end result of a century of fighting for the workers.

Have unions festered into a beast that has gotten greedy at the top, at the expense of members? Absolutely. Should there be a middle ground with some of the bigger unions who take advantage? Absolutely.


Most recently we saw the rail workers union fighting for basic sick leave that is being denied employees. Sure...they have plenty of personal days, but are denied leave when said days are requested. The industry has staff shortages that seems to create one train derailment per week.

On the other side of the coin, we have state workers on highways who have two guys running a shovel/wheel barrow, and 3 guys watching.

The answer lies somewhere in the middle.

It is propaganda and lies, and I keep proving it with specific examples. In fact, I showed another case of that on the 40 hour work week earlier today. As I have also stated, what unions do do is quibble over wages and benefits, and other niggling details of employment. They don't do big picture stuff because it doesn't benefit them directly.

Can not afford unions? That is not the case. They were making big money here, but they could make even more by relocating to a place that has no environmental regulations and a cheap unprotected labor force. That is maxing profits. Corporate management does not stay in charge for long, so they are going to squeeze every penny they can to get huge bonuses and stock.
