I must have thought about 80 times before getting involved in this thread. It pains me to do so. I'm very tired of talking about this. In all my years on message boards, I have always noticed, and really I have to say, been proud of, the fact that liberal men simply don't talk to women the way con men do. On netscape we had a lot of liberal guys there and man they were passionate and they got pissed, and some of them talked like truck drivers on crack, but they never called a con woman the c word. I remember the time this widely-despised-by-liberal-men righty, Sarge, posted that his gf was 5'0 and weighed well over two hundred pounds. I cringed, but no guy ever said a word. I said to a conservative friend of mine there (I actually had one or two back then) that if a lib guy had posted that about his gf he would never have heard the end of it. And he agreed. Now, liberal men can be sexist, don't get me wrong. And I think that I have called them out enough on it that no one can argue I am blind to that. However...they are in general, just not abusive in this way.
It's retarded to assume that just because someone's political ideology is X they won't make fun of a 5' 200lb girlfriend of another poster.
But there are exceptions. Whether Maher is one I don't know, I find him funny for the most part, but he's no intellectual giant and I often question whether he is really even a liberal. (anyone heard him on Muslims???) When he called Palin the c word, that was not funny. It was sexist and abusive.
We're talking about the opinions of entertainers - I have the same opinion for fundamentalist Mormons that I do for fundamentalist Muslims or fundamentalist Christians, incidentally those same said opinons have fuck all to do with my political ideology.
My opinion is that Palin is a cunt, I didn't take it as sexist nor did I think it was abusive when Mahr called her one either.
I don't like that you ZJ, have been given a pass on this board for some of your statements. I don't like your calling this woman a fatass, a ballgazer, a slut, a c*nt...and so on. Last week when someone made a rape threat on this board, she actually defended him. So dont think I don't know what she is. More of a thing than a woman really. I have her on ignore because if I continue to read her slobbering, slavish, apologia for rape, abuse, misogyny, etc, it won't go well.
I don't think Ballgazer is even a woman - a troll, yes - a woman, not so much....not that it matters one way or the other. Also I'm new here, I don't think I've been given a pass about anything given the standards of other poster's posts on this forum.
I could be wrong though. I damn sure didn't ask for any "special pass."

Yeah, it's misogynistic to call women the c word. It is the exact same as my having a heated disagreement with a black male and calling him the n word. It's no longer about him, it is racial hate, and that becomes about me and who I am. I don't think in those terms. It would never happen.
I'm thinking you're not hip the various definitions or the several meanings of the word "cunt" or you've got your own and are thinking that everyone should abide by what you think the word means.
Different cultures, different meanings..whatever, it's not necessarily a word that describes just women - a dulllard, dummy, dolt, or dipshit are all synonyms of the word "cunt," and they're all unisex words.
It's about usage more than anything else.

And this is the same. When you call her a c word, you're calling me one. And it's not about her, and it's not about me, it's about you. Some women are okay with it, for instance I have seen many con women cheer and possibly even gain sexual satisfaction while watching a conservative man abuse a liberal woman. And maybe some liberal women have some of that in them...it's okay as long as it's one of us. But for me, it's never okay, and it leads directly to things like rape threats. Because if it's okay for you then it's okay for them, and what it really comes down to is SHUT THE BITCHES UP.
Absolutely not - if I'm calling or insinuating Ballgazer (or anyone for that matter) is a "cunt," then that's what it is, even if sarcastically and not one iota to do with calling you a cunt unless I'm specifically calling you a cunt, which I haven't yet. It's not on an equal plane with the word "ni**er," no matter how much you try to justify it, it's just not the same, not even in the same ballpark.
In the end if you're offended by my usage of a word, it is what is - it's the internet, eventually someone is gonna get offended one way or the other - even if you're not able to come to grips with the context of how I'm using the word.
Well, I'm not them (conservatives) nor am I you fellas (liberals) and if I wanna shut a poster up I'll just go ahead and put 'em on my "Shut The Fuck Up List™," which it's your prerogative to put me on yours if you don't wanna read my posts because you're offended.
