I'm Holding A Demonstration

No one is taking away their right to smoke. They are just restricting where they can smoke as their smoking causes harm to those around them. It is the same with driving. I cannot drive through your yard or home or a public park simply because it is more convenient for me. I have to stick to the streets.

It's not even remotely the same thing as driving. I, as a property owner, can drive where ever I would like on my property, and allow you the ability to do the same.

You can, however, legally eat a cheeseburger while holding a drink and trying to read a map on the next seat while you are driving, even though that endangers any passengers, while states newest laws forbid smoking in your vehicle if children are present in the vehicle....

This is exactly like helmet laws. You are not harmed by seeing smokers outside, no study suggests that walking by smokers who are outside smoking does you any harm at all. You are inconvenienced because you dislike their habit, but you remain unharmed. Attempting to make it illegal to smoke outside on any public campus whatsoever is just another attempt at a helmet law. It doesn't protect you from harm from the scary cigarette, it solely makes life more comfortable to you.

And is yet another step by the government to interfere with property owners and individual rights in the interest of 'safety' without any conclusive evidence to support their ideas.

sorry, I thought this was about smoking in public buildings. I did not realize it was talking about smoking outside on public land. I have no problem with people smoking outside.

I think this is a perfectly debatable issue and if some states have laws that go one way or another, that's fine.

But personally, I think the market should decide which public places have smoking and which ones don't. And even with these laws, in a sense, the market will if there remains a market.

Using Michigan as an example, if you're into gambling and you don't mind coming home smelling of smoke, you can go to the casinos in Detroit. But if you don't want that, you can always cross the river into Windsor, Ontario, and gamble where smoking in public is illegal.

This can be accomplished without legislation as well.

I also want to advise conservatives not to put down demonstration as some kind of liberal activity. It is an exceptional method of organizing people and promoting a message. Conservatives have a problem doing both of these things because they think too often that their political goal is solely to change nothing and keep things the same. And so, they don't step out of line and express themselves in a productive way.

Conservation of any kind requires effective action.

Excellent, then we agree. I didn't smoke inside at all when I smoked... well, except for the bars that allowed it... but then I was usually drunk...

I am just glad bars don't allow it here... I hated coming home with a cigarette 'hangover' and smelling like a friggin ash tray.

I'm holding a demonstration

Is it heavy?

Smoke does not stay in one place. It is not all your air ,that air also belongs to the people who have as much right to be in public as you do. Smoke is unhealthy and to some people with lung, throat, sinus and other conditions it is painful.

We wouldnt let you stand in a of a building and burn any other substance simply because you LIKE it now would we?

Man up smokers and take the responsibility for your own habit and realize others should NOT be forced to deal with the negative output of your dumber that shit passwtime.
