SANCTUARY STATE DENIZENS

A Hispanic man and his sister are accused of bringing immigrant families from Guatemala into the United States and forcing them into prostitution.

The pair operated out of a two-bedroom apartment in the 1900 block of Latham Street.

Detectives say Carlos Garza and Evelia Galvez brought the victims to the U.S. under false pretenses.

Once the victims arrived, they hoped to start a new life, but instead, they were used for sex and labor trafficking.

Police say Garza took advantage of the vulnerable immigrants and created a culture of fear.

According to Katie Nelson, spokesperson for the Mountain View Police Department, "A victim had stated that not only was she raped by Garza but that essentially he was bringing other men in to sleep with her and in turn, they would pay him."

KRON4's Gayle Ong spoke with neighbors who said they were stunned but not surprised.

Candy Cameron said, " It just doesn't surprise me because there are just so many strange things that go on here."

When officers responded to the home in October, they found 12 people living in close quarters. Many of them didn't know each other.

"They did not know where to go and they did not know who to talk to" Nelson said. "This is a delicate process and our detectives realized pretty quickly this was a case of human trafficking."

Garza was arrested on on suspicion of multiple counts of human trafficking. His sister was arrested on suspicion of accessory to a crime and intimidation of a victim.

your assertion that trump will now have to hire legal Americans to do his work is hopefully correct

The cost to deport one individual averages around $10,856.
The experts estimate 2 million criminal illegals in the country.
Estimates show thousands of Americans die in auto accidents by illegals behind the wheel.
Illegals enter the country and end up in low income areas without jobs, can’t speak the language and drain resources at taxpayer expense.
What are the benefits of undocumented illegals entering the country??
What are the arguments for not wanting greater border security??
What are the percentage of democrats that really want open borders?? I have a feeling it’s a very small minority radical leftists.

They are going to be reliable voters for the welfare state so leftists love them

They will also drive down wages of American citizens so the Chamber of Commerce love them

They are the new “it” voting bloc

If the republicans were smart (evidence shows they are not), they would make a big play for black voters.

Black voters are big time against illegal immigration as they are harmed more. The GOP only need to peel off 20% of the black vote from the democrat party and the democrat party is finished

Didn't Moonbeam Brown refuse Vietnamese immigrants because he thought they'd vote Republican? :nodyes:

The Los Angeles Times recounted Brown’s ugly attitude, reporting, “Brown has his own checkered history of demagoguery about refugees.”

Back in 1975, millions of South Vietnamese who worked for or supported the U.S. found themselves trapped behind the lines when the communists took over the country. Vietnamese emigre Tung Vu, writing in Northwest Asian Weekly, recalled the hardships the Vietnamese faced in 1975 as they tried to escape the communists.

“After the fall of Saigon, many Vietnamese chose to leave by any means possible, often in small boats. Those who managed to escape pirates, typhoons, and starvation sought safety and a new life in refugee camps,” Tung wrote.

Ironically, Republicans led by former President Gerald Ford were the political figures who fought for the refugees to enter the United States.

Julia Taft, who in 1975 headed up Ford’s Inter-agency Task Force on Indochinese refugee resettlement, told author Larry Engelmann in his book, “Tears Before the Rain: An Oral History of the Fall of South Vietnam,” “The new governor of California, Jerry Brown, was very concerned about refugees settling in his state.”

National Public Radio host Debbie Elliott retraced Brown’s refusal to accept any refugees in a January 2007 interview with Taft. According to a transcript, which was aired on its flagship program, “All Things Considered,” Taft said, “our biggest problem came from California due to Brown.” She called his rejection of Vietnamese refugees “a moral blow.”

“I remember at the time we had thousands and thousands of requests from military families in San Diego, for instance, who had worked in Vietnam, who knew some of these people,” she told NPR.
