If you knew social media would cause the downfall of civilization

Would you still support the idea that it should continue basically unregulated, and unfettered?

In other words: is free speech such a sacred right, that even if you KNEW social media would be our doom, you would still want it as is?

I'm not taking a position one way or the other here. I'm curious what reasoned thoughts are on this.
 
The problem isn't digital garbage,

The problem is the idiots who make it a thing.

They've always had SOMETHING out of which they could make a problematic thing.

It used to be wing-nut christian televangelists and talk radio.
