If you could invest in real-estate where would you do it?

Abreast of the situations
Greetings old friends. Sorry for my very long absence from the board. I have been with a new job that allows no internet access as well as working on a side business so not much free time these days.

In any regards I find myself in a position where I am looking to invest and a second home is more attractive then utilizing other investment vehicles at this time.

I'm curious if anyone here has suggestions or experience that may lead me to the right areas.

I would like to get something close to the ocean preferable on the east coast (or gulf if Florida) as a vacation home / rental property. My price range is not fixed but my thinking is buy smaller with cash if possible to avoid finding myself in the distressed situation so many of my fellow Americans find themselves in if my moneyflow ever drys up.

Hey Chap - long time! No ideas for you, though I think this is a good time for real estate in general....
 
I would tend to agree its a good time to invest into it. I have been surfing zillow but honestly I dont even know where to start. So many houses for sale or in default.
