Maybe. Are you really saying you'll bet your family's and your life on it? Especially when the Democrats are doing their best to disarm middle and lower income Americans? Remember the saying "When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns"? The situation we're discussing is when the street has a mob of armed outlaws in it AKA "militia" AKA the exact type of people Stone was describing in his posts.

Agreed on "Many have tried...". I go by an old survival philosophy: Better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it.

Consider that even without a RWNJ riot or marauding band: I live in a rural area. The police are over 15-20 minutes away depending if they are "resting" or not. If violent people are coming down my street, do I really have time to wait for the police or should I be on my rooftop or a place providing cover to wait and see if they attack anyone?

BTW, let's not forget that one legal use of lethal force is to defend the life of another....even if it's to shoot some asshole in the back as he's trying to rape or kill your neighbor. That is NOT a situation where you should be trying to figure out how to load your gun much less effectively use it on a bad guy without hitting a good guy. Worse, of course is to do nothing but threaten to write a letter to your city councilman.

I would imagine if a gang of RW marauders cruising down suburban streets looking for suspected liberals to kill (at this point, a totally fictitious phenomenon,) were to go into action, (again this is so far fetched as to be borderline absurd,) anyone who went up on their roof with a weapon in defense of home would become a target.

And IF (big IF) this fictitious gang did this, they would be so few in number that MOST suburban streets would never know about it. There would be no way for this imagined threat to present itself to all streets simultaneously. As soon as it began anywhere the law would be called, and yes response time may be 15-20, but as soon as they got there they would take control of the situation. If they couldn't, then the authorities would escalate their response until they were able to restore order. The vast majority of Americans would never even know about it until it hit the news, in all likelihood being all over and done with by then.

No way the crazy hateful kooks could possibly be organized enough to establish a plan to hit every American street at the same time in order to pull this all off before law enforcement arrived to take control of the situation. This is just about the last thing anyone should spend any time worrying about. People would have a far greater chance of being struck by lightning while being bitten by a shark.

Dude, have you talked to any Korean store owners who lost their business in a riot? Anyone in the riots, regardless of position, in Portland? How about the "peaceful" RW protest in Lansing, MI? The truly awesome display of White Power in Charlottesville capped with the murder of a young woman because she disagreed with racists? Innocent people are not only being shot with rubber bullets and assaulted with tear gas, sometimes just for a photo op, but they've been murdered too. I think their imaginations are running away with them. Any individual, or even a group, who goes out into public and begins picking targets and shooting will bring the response of law enforcement, which will deal with the situation. That's what they are there for.

Despite the imaginations of some of the kookier RWNJs, there is not about to be any national moment when the talk ends and the shooting begins en masse all over the nation. Beliefs such as that belong in the weirdo extremist bin. People who are ready to risk their lives trying to change our society are too few in number. Most people are fine with living their lives as is legally, and prefer life to death. Anyone who wants to risk their life for their nation already has an avenue for that in the military, and they like the structure there which is designed to keep the force under control and dedicated to preserving the nation and protecting her people, not attacking and shooting them up.

Such incidents would be small. Insurrections since they are fighting against the Constitution and the rightfully elected Federal government.

FWIW, I know the odds are small of a violent insurrection in my neighborhood just like I know the odds are small for a hit by a tornadoe or a cyber attack which knocks out the power grid for two weeks, but isn't it smart to have some basic emergency skills and supplies? Anyone looking at national polls using registered voters and adults as a sample size AND over samples democrats by 6-10% points is fooling themselves. Those are facts. If you want to ignore them then that is on you.

I base my opinion on Trump winning on three things

1) The power of incumbency. It is real and it is difficult to overcome
2) Voter enthusiasm is greater for Trump than it is for Biden. EVERY poll shows that, even the flawed ones
3) I didn't think it is possible, but Biden is an even more flawed candidate than Crooked Hillary was.

And all the people involved in all of those events, all added together, equals zero point (x zeroes) something percent of America. How many zeroes? Yes, whacked out weirdos will do stupid things and be on the news; but for the overwhelming majority of America, it's just another news story. Bizarre stuff happens every day. If it bleeds it leads. We are shocked when we hear about it, we get used to it, we move on.
