If the US defaults on its debt, who will American voters blame the most?

If the US defaults on its debt, who will voters blame the most?

  • Total voters

The Democrats and media will blame the Republicans

The Republicans will blame the Democrats and president

The public will blame them all.

The ball is in Biden's court he was the one that refused to negotiate for months so the default award goes to dementia Joe Biden.

One thing's for certain...

If a the limit isn't raised before it's reached, neither Congress's or Joke's poll numbers will improve...

One thing is certain, Americans standard of living has already begun its plummet.

These fucking morons have no idea how bad this is going to get.

Their brains cant process this information.

Buckle Up.

Here’s what you don’t understand..

If you cut spending to an appropriate level you won’t have to raise the debt ceiling

what you don't understand is that cutting the debt ceiling does NOTHING to control those who set the budget and spending.

How much do you think Trump thought about the debt ceiling as he blew through it 3 times? What makes you think if you lowered it he would suddenly care when he was blowing thru it anyway?

Here’s what you don’t understand..

If you cut spending to an appropriate level you won’t have to raise the debt ceiling

- your debt ceiling is $100
- Trump - I don't care i will spend $500 and they can adjust it and they always do
- ok we are then cutting the debt ceiling to $50
- Trump - I don't care, I am increasing my spending to $1000 and they can adjust it and they always do

Setting the debt ceiling IN NO WAY prevents Trump or any future POTUS and Congress just blowing thru it with spending and leaving if for whoever is in power to pay via asking for a raised limit. The ONLY way to control spending is in the budget process and NOT the debt ceiling. If the debt ceiling had ANY power to control spending and the budget Trump would not have blown thru it 3 times.

Understand?

Poor example based on a total fantasy. Right now, about two-thirds of all federal spending is on mandatory programs that cannot be cut and are automatically increased based on cost-of-living, and / or inflation.

Because of that, the debt ceiling will always be reached sooner or later. It is programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, and Social Security that make up over half of all federal spending and those programs can't be cut because of the way the laws governing them are written.

It is not a poor example. You just have poor comprehension.

Explain how if the debt ceiling was LESS during Trumps 2016 term it would have prevented him spending $1 less then he did?

Go into detail and give us the mechanism that forces Trump in that term to spend less when he spend MORE than the debt ceiling was anyway?

The debt ceiling could have been half of what it was and Trump would have spend the same and said 'do not argue over RAISING the debt ceiling... just do it'. And they would have. It could be a 1/3rd.

If they are already saying we DGAF what the debt ceiling is, and will spend what we want regardless, then reducing the debt ceiling does nothing.

But please explain how if Trump had less debt celling it would have curtailed his spending? I will wait.
